President Trump said he might veto the sweeping $1.3 trillion spending bill passed early Friday — a move that likely would lead to a government shutdown — because it does nothing to address the fate of young undocumented immigrants and does not fully fund his border wall.
In a Friday morning tweet, Trump said that those protected from deportation by the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program have been “totally abandoned” by Congress, and he blamed the Democrats.
On Thursday afternoon, senior Trump administration officials told reporters that Trump intended to sign the spending bill, making no mention of the president’s concern. Several aides were trying to convince the president Friday not to follow through with his threat.
Trump, who sought to cancel DACA last fall, was seeking a deal that would give Democrats protections they sought for the program's recipients in exchange for additional funding of $25 billion for his long-promised U.S.-Mexico border wall. The bill includes a minor down payment of $1.6 billion on his marquee campaign promise.

Threats are empty at this point since it’s on his desk. Veto it if you’re going to, Mr. President. Stop with the Tweets if you aren’t. And if you do, come up with a better reason than DACA. How about the $1 trillion-plus deficit this budget will generate instead?
If Trump signs that bill I’m going to demand my money back I sent to get him elected.
He need a line item veto to cut the pork out of the bill at least. OR insert the wording that all people voting Dem will be neutered.
I worry less about the US raised 800,000 DACA people than the 30,000,000 low skills & low wealth LEGAL immigrants admitted during last 25 years. Majority are on welfare. Includes some people I know personally who are collecting social security, Medicaid & food stamps even though they arrived after age 65 and never worked one day here, and never contributed one red cent in taxes.

You are right on. This should be a no brainer to anyone with a scintilla of conservatism.
They are not going to vote Republican regardless. I live in California so know this well. I have Hispanic, many generational, born here friends who are as conservative as all get out. They still vote Dem. Don’t know how they rationalize it but it is what it is. How do you think California got in such a mess? Also look at Florida who is on the cusp of going lib. It’ll happen in Texas eventually too. They just keep crapping their nests.
Of course he’ll sign it. What’s the alternative?
