I’m wondering if he was adopted from Romania or Russia. Guess we’ll never find out any more than we’ve found out about the monster in Vegas.

A month ago I thought the notion that the FBI or CIA groomed the Sandy Hook shooter was rank lunacy.

Now it seems to be exactly what they would do to undermine popular support for the Second Amendment.

Deep State doesn't care about kids' lives.

The Revolution is more important to them.

Unless they would try to shoehorn into a civil rights issue, there is very little federal justification.... and you can’t chase every tip into a federal matter.

Also, FBI wants to keep best relations with local LEOs, especially elected ones like Sheriffs, so the locals will call them when they have info involving wide areas matters outside the local jurisdiction.

The SA should have called the Parkland cops or Broward SO immediately, however in this case.

“Then wouldn’t the bureau have an obligation to notify local/state LEO?”

Absolutely

These shootings are mainly a psychiatric problem.

Unfortunately, since the collapse of public psychiatry in the period 1963-1975, there are no reasonable short-term solutions.

What is required is the retraining of psychiatrists, the development of new training standards for psychiatrists-in-training and medical students, and an investment of billions of dollars to build, staff, and open secure facilities where dangerous crazy people can be detained indefinitely, often for life.

Almost everything psychiatrists and their professional organizations believe and say about the nature of this problem is either a delusion or a lie.

People who are truly depressed when you encounter them make you feel sad. Their affect is contagious.

And people who are dangerous when you encounter them make you frightened. Their affect is contagious, too. Every single one of these school shooters was known to be scary crazy dangerous. Every one. Almost all of them had contact with law enforcement or public psychiatry, usually both.

A book by Thomas Szasz and a movie starring Jack Nicholson constitute the entire knowledge base that underlies our current system, which is failing catastrophically.

It's time to start over.

Dr. Glickman in G Building would have known what to do.

The intent of 18 U.S.C. § 875 is directed against those who would profit from such threats, as opposed to just the threat itself.

Secondly, Def would argue that Def did not (to the best of my knowledge) name a specific person (individual) to be injured, law would not apply.

Not saying there is not a prosecute-able crime, but there would be some specific defenses.... and “word crimes’ are always tough to prosecute.

Finally, SAs in Florida, are chasing known, real crooks who have already committed federal crimes, plus terrorists, plus Cuban intel officers who have infiltrated South Florida.

In the real world, they don’t have time to chase every “word crime”, but they certainly should have called Broward SO.

Yet Cruz has the cops out to his home 39 times over 7 years and posts on Facebook that he is going to shoot up the school and authorities do nothing

Under our present public psychiatry "system", there was nothing the "authorities" could have done.

I have worked with and around crazy dangerous people for 45 years, and I know it's hard to believe that there is no responsible party with both the knowledge and the authority to "do something", but it's true.

The local police should have watched him more closely

And if they had, what would have been different?

If Bureau tried to investigate every kid who brags ab out shooting people, that’s all they would ever do.

Taht said, they certainly should have called Broward SO. Not only are murder, assault, battery, and Mopery in the 3d Degree all State crimes, but they would be expected to “know both the turf and the perp” the best.

Cases like this, you want to work “down” as much as possible, not “up.”

“...but it’s true.”

It’s NOT true. Make comments like Cruz did against the president, or a judge, elected official, cop, or any pig that is more equal than other pigs, and see what happens.

But you’re right about the “system”. And as things stand now, your kids and mine in public schools are way down the line in terms of giving a damn.

maybe this wouldn’t have happened.

The only armed officer may have not left campus early or a back-up might have filled in.

All security guardsman have been armed.

The other gates and doors may have remained locked.

and see what happens

This is what happens:

You get involuntarily admitted to a facility.

Within 48 hours you have a hearing in front of a judge.

A state-appointed psychiatrist testifies that no one can predict dangerousness.

The judge lets you go with an outpatient appointment at a Community Mental Health Center (which may exist only on paper).

Everybody hopes you don't do anything.

Not only would the problem have been solved but he would have been cured of all that ailed him.

If they’d done their jobs, he would have been busted and prohibited from owning firearms.
