Use of the internet to threaten “the person of another” constitutes a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 875 ( interstate communication of threat to injure) If it is communicated interstate, federal jurisdiction is created.

Planning a school shooting? That goes into the FBI circular file

Now if someone had been accused him of spreading Russian disinformation on Facebook? SWAT would have come through his doors months ago.

The FBI is too busy texting their mistresses and working on Hillary’s campaign or helping the DNC. They can’t be bothered to actually do any criminal type investigation.

So I am confused. I heard a former FBI guy in Fox last night say the FBI has some “Bible’ on protocols to protect citizens rights that prevents them from looking into this type of tip.

At the same time they say “see something, say something”. Or more recently, “See something, Do something”.

So which is it? Seems like the real phrase the FBI uses is “Say something, Do nothing”.

I know the FBI has a tough job. But this happens way to often.

Have we found anything out about this kid’s background? I’m thinking about the spelling of his first name and also that he looks like he is a victim of alcohol fetal syndrome.

Not really, this is a report of a second instance of someone contacting the FBI with specific information very recently.

And today they come out with an anticlimactic announcement of indictments in the Russian probe

Wondering if this is the end of that

Perhaps this not pursuing and containing this shooter was a result of too much from the top focus on Trump hatred and there is serious backlash

Like on the ground agents with email documentation that they wanted to pursue this kid and were put off

With Trump in charge, that is, with the deplorables in charge, the gun dispute goes flat

These guys and their actions are going to be examined

I predict a yuge shake up

But I don’t know What do i know?

Much to do about nothing, as his crime was not a federal matter.

There are federal crimes involved, and the FBI should, regardless of what other crimes might be involved, act on credible tips.

Not quite. Transmitting threatening messages via e-mail is a federal crime in the United States.

Yep. And 13 Russian bloggers were just indicted for posting pro-Trump posts on Facebook or something.

Yet Cruz has the cops out to his home 39 times over 7 years and posts on Facebook that he is going to shoot up the school and authorities do nothing.

Then wouldn’t the bureau have an obligation to notify local/state LEO?

I’d be intetested to learn if this person calling fbi tipline also notified local police. ..

I don’t know? My wife lived in Anchorage for several years. Prior to dating (and eventually marrying me) she dated an undercover agent for the DEA. He told her that there were more FBI people in AK than you could imagine.

I think if someone tried real hard, they could make a federal case. And local jurisdictions can request FBI assistance.

It takes a long time to get an OK from Washington to the local field offices, as to whether there is an approval of political correctness for an investigation to proceed.

That’s the Obama legacy. Drain that swamp President Trump!

It's going to require complete dismantling and salting of the ruins.

Seems like the FBI dropped the ball on the shooter, Adam Lanza, at Sandy Hook.

Before the shooting:

“Another person interviewed said Nancy Lanza told them her son hacked “into a government computer system” and federal agents showed up to their home. They said Nancy Lanza believed the agents were from the CIA and FBI and they said if her son was smart enough to hack the computer he could have a job with them someday.”

It’s so heartbreaking this was not stopped.

Now, we’re reading, that I believe it said, that since 2010 the local police made 39 calls to this boy’s house, and then the post on youtube, and the history of psychiatric care he started and then stopped, after being on watch at the school.

The path to this bloody event was under kleg lights. So tragic it was not addressed forcefully.

I believe this will cause these kind of pre-kill incidents to be added to the criminal background check imposed upon gun sellers.

Charges and convictions are not enough to capture severe mental illness, and ignores these tell=tale signs, prior to official charges.

Same thing with the Ft. Hood shooter. A nut, who was a psychiatrist!

“What exactly is the law and procedure for someone who appears threatening but hasn’t done anything to warrant being arrested???”

Same question goes for situations of domestic abuse, stalking, etc. The potential victim is certain there will be violence and goes to the authorities for help. Then cops say nothing can be done “until he does something”. In many cases, that’s too late.

"Much to do about nothing, as his crime was not a federal matter. Murder, even mass murder, is a state issue."

Yes. The young man's abuses against others were defended by his mother, and deputies had been called to his house 39 times. He may have even been on a psychoactive drug (per his mother's sister-in-law). The local police should have watched him more closely. Broward County leans way to the left, though, and isn't the kind of place where children are disciplined.

“Have we found anything out about this kid’s background?”

It’s all over the place.
Adopted at birth by a couple in their 40s. (Probably not traditional adoption.)
Father died a few years ago.
Mother died a few months ago.
He has a brother, Zachary. (Don’t hear much about him.)
Has been living with family friends since mother’s death.

I dated an FBI agent in Anchorage in the late ‘70s. There ARE a lot of them there.
