I’m sure WaPo and the NYT already know everything in the memo.

“Nunes...and Trump doing the work Sessions and Wray refuse to do.”

The constant anti-Sessions meme on FR has gotten so annoying.

What people fail to grasp is that Nunes, and others from the legislative branch, are exactly who should be spearheading the effort to bring corruption to light and to garner public support for bringing corrupt politicians to justice.

The problem is that the deep state corruption is 100% from the left, and largely Democrat. That means it’s politics. That means the Trump administration can’t lead the charge without creating the public perception of partisan politics.

As soon as Trump, his administration, his DOJ, his cabinet appear to be the driving force behind draining the swamp, the DNC and MSM are ready to pounce - ready to discredit it all as a partisan witch hunt.

All Trump and his team can do is provide a safe haven for whistleblowers and quietly build cases. All they can do is be consistent and loyal to legislators who speak out against corruption - but they can’t be seen as leading the charge.

A couple years from now, when we look back at all the swamp draining that took place in Trump’s first term, we’ll all realize it had to be largely Trump that made it possible.

But ironically, Trump’s challenge is to make sure he gets no credit for it at all- to make sure it is seen for what it really is, the will of the people.

Trump understands this dynamic and he’s playing his role perfectly.

I remember a scene in Hunt for Red October where the defecting Russian Sub commander (Connery) does a manuever (Crazy Ivan?) to draw the enemy heat seeking missiles around in a circle - the enemy ends up realizing too late that they’ve blown up their own sub.

That’s what Trump is doing - a Crazy Donald manuever - if we can be patient enough to let him play out the rest of his hand, one day the Democrats will check their traps and realize they’ve caught only other Democrats.

"With as much hype as they’ve pushed it had better finger the Obama in a major way."

If that's what you're expecting, I think you'll be disappointed. If it shows the politicization of the FISA court by top FBI and DOJ officials to spy on a political campaign, I'll be more than satisfied. It could then lead back to people like Comey and Loretta Lynch but no way they give up the king. All the minions fall on their swords.

And, why can’t Nunes release it from “The Retreat”?

It is stuff most of us already know, and what the President said a few hours ago:

You had Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party try to hide the fact that they gave money to GPS Fusion to create a Dossier which was used by their allies in the Obama Administration to convince a Court misleadingly, by all accounts, to spy on the Trump Team. Tom Fitton, JW

Read the above carefully. The rule has no provision for the President giving early approval. The only communication the president can give is either objection within the five day window, or silence, with silence being taken as consent at the expiration of the five days.

Saturday Feb 3 is the five day mark. The committee will most likely meet to release the memo on Monday Feb 5. It will dominate next week’s news cycle.

Such certainty.
Really?!
You say this as absolute fact...
Runs contrary to what is being reported.

We will see...

Note the use of the conditional. Since the word “may” is used, the committee can release before the 5 days are up?

With as much hype as they’ve pushed it had better finger the Obama in a major way.

It is a summary, not a detailed listing of crimes.

This is just the first step of many to come.

Once this is released, it will be called partisan and unsubstantiated.

Then, Republicans will release the backup information that supports the memo.

Then, the Inspector General report will come out that backs the memo, but lists other crimes.

Each piece leads to another.

This is going to be slow torture for the Democrats and the media.

Keep your powder dry and do not expect too much up front.
