Pretty cheap wine. I'm surprised.

I shudder to think what the bar bill for a typical Congressional junket costs.

It’s a long, boring flight.

Actually, for a round trip to China, thats not too excessive...Im sure Id consume a bottle of wine each way, over the many hours, and I doubt that they got the best of the best. In any case, it probably kept them sleepy and from doing too much plotting together.

Pikers. Except for the beer, that’s about what Winston Churchill would bring with him when he visited the White House.

$2,200 worth of alcohol 121 bottles of wine and 241 cans of beer Slightly more than one bottle of cheap wine and two cans of beer per passenger for each leg of the flight. And those are long flights. So what's the big deal? Sorry, I don't get it.

“...week-long official trip to China...”
Well, it IS a long flight there, and flying around in China, and the return flight to Canada. As a veteran of several trans-Pacific flights, it doesn’t sound like so much, especially given that these were free and not bought at airline prices.

Pass it around, 399 bottles of beer on the plane.
etc etc etc

Two cans of beer each way on a very long flight doesn’t seem excessive to me. Someone else could have most of my wine.
