Dem Sen Durbin: Franken Leaving Should ‘Establish a National Standard’ For Roy Moore
Breitbart ^ | 10 Dec 2017 | Pam Key

Posted on 12/10/2017 3:15:21 PM PST by Cheerio

Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) leaving the U.S. Senate should “establish a national standard” on how the Senate deals with Alabama GOP Senate hopeful Roy Moore if he wins.

Partial transcript as follows:

DICKERSON: Joining us now is Senate Democratic Whip Richard Durbin. He is in Springfield, Illinois. Welcome, senator. I want to pick up on something that Senator Collins said about the choice that senators may face if Roy Moore is elected in Alabama. And the question is: What business does the Senate have in overturning the will of the people of Alabama if he is elected? Senator Collins said that’s a very tough decision. What’s your sense of it?

DURBIN: Well, John, I can tell you this. First, the decision is to be made by the voters in Alabama on Tuesday. And I hope that they will do the right thing in terms of defining their standards and values when it comes to people representing them in Washington. But we have heard from Republican senators first who have suggested that if Roy Moore ends up being elected to the Senate, he would face close scrutiny, investigation, even removal from the Senate once he arrives.

There will be a serious constitutional problem if the Senate acts to remove a member who met all of the constitutional qualifications (age, citizenship and residency) and who was duly elected on the basis of allegations known to the voters who elected and having nothing to do with his service as a senator. Even Little Marco has picked up on this point. If the Senate can kick out someone on such a basis, we will truly have lost our republican form of government. It would certainly be a form of coup and basically does not even make sense. And it would set a crazy precedent.

so far nobody’s provided any actual evidence that Judge Moore ever did anything wrong, so this article is just more smearing of the Judge by the extreme leftwingers

Dick Durbin.... you may SHOVE your advice up your liberal arse.

You and your Party have been leading Americans down an immoral path for decades. Y’all have ZERO ground to stand on. Horn-dogging dems trying to reset our national standards. Hilarious!

Dick, the Democrat perverts you speak of were not outed by you or your party. Quite the contrary, in fact. The Democrat party knew about what the perverts had been doing and YOU protected and enabled them to continue to violate innocent victims.

So, we would be insane to allow you to decide what the national standard will now be.

None of the many more Franken accusers forged their evidence.

Except, Franken hasn’t left yet, and probably won’t. He’s determined to make sure some bigger democRAT eels than he is don’t get to slither away. They all know each other, and compare notes, and gloat, IMHO.

False equivalence again, and I'm sure it was unchallenged by the nitwit Partisan Media Shills -- Franken did it, Moore didn't. Thanks Cheerio.

Franken’s high score would be hard to beat, except maybe by Joe Biden or Menendez.

Durbin, you ignorant slut.

Franken went into the Senate well and denied all the charges. He said some allegations were untrue, and regarding others he had a “different memory” than the accusers. He mentioned no case in which an accusation was true. He made no apology. He didn't resign.

He's the standard for being a weasel.

The national standard is that the people of their respective states get to choose through democratic elections the people who will represent them in Washington, anything else is a dictatorship.

“...this is like saying that Budd Dwyer set the precedent for all corrupt politicians.”

Don’t we wish. Honorable .357 seppuku in front of the cameras. Quite a list of pollies I’d like to see go out that way.

Tick Turban is an arrogant sanctimonious pr*ck. Eighteen years ago on vacation we met a family from Iowa and I had just done reserve training at Camp Dodge. Asked why did Turban keep getting reelected. They replied they didn’t like him either but that the political culture of Des Moines rules the rest of the state.

There are a lot of states dominated by liberal city-states: MI, PA, GA, PA, IL, NY, OR, WA, to name a few.

That seems fair enough.

If a photo emerges showing Judge Moore groping a sleeping woman, he should agree to resign.

M Kehoe thinks that sen. Ted Kennedy dying should set a standard for Dick Turbin.

Dick Durbin is the most intellectually corrupt Democrat in Congress.

Plenty of competition, but Durbin wins: the biggest Alpha Hotel of them all.

It's true. Once you get beyond the tri-county area (Macomb, Wayne & Oakland counties) Detroit dominates, the rest of Michigan votes Republican (with a few small exceptions).

That Trump won Michigan by about 10,000 votes:
1) The Washtenaw-Wayne county vote fraud axis wasn't able to produce enough fake ballots fast enough and
2) Overwhelming hate of Hillary & Obama forced a lot of non-engaged voters to the polls. Hopefully this happens again for 2020.

As has already been pointed out, Al Franken hasn't gone anywhere.

When democrats apologize it is really a non-apology.

They say: "I'm sorry if you were offended."
What they really mean is: "I don't give a crap what you think."

That has worked out so well they are now trying the technique out on resignations.

Now, when they resign it is a non-resignation."

The Franken-Groper said: "I am resigning (sometime in the future)."
What he was thinking: "Maybe, maybe not - I'll have to see if I can wait it out until this thing blows over."

I don’t think Franken is going to let his Senate career end because they want to sacrifice him for the “good” of the party. I can’t see him being down with that. We shall see.

I’ve seen lefties and righties on FOX news flat out call Moore a child molester and the host just sits there like a bump on a log and doesn’t call them on it.
