Tickets for Redskins Thanksgiving game vs. Giants going for as little as $7

WASHINGTON - The playoff hopes for the Washington Redskins took a big hit Sunday after they lost to the New Orleans Saints and blew a 15-point fourth quarter lead in the process. After the loss, it appears the Redskins fan base is also reeling as well based off of the ticket prices for their next home game on Thanksgiving.

The Redskins will have a short turnaround this week as they will host the New York Giants at Fedex Field on Thursday. While the matchup will be a nationally televised battle between NFC East rivals, there are tickets available on the resale market for as little $7. Yes, that's right -- $7.

On the online ticket exchange site StubHub Monday afternoon, the cheapest ticket available for the game was going for $7.16 for a standing room-only spot in the upper deck of the stadium. While there are plenty of nosebleed seats available, there are some lower level seats also available going between $9 to $15.

$9-$15 bucks for lower level? Toss in a parking pass and I would take my kid. Just so he could say he went to one NFL game before the league folded.

One day he would tell his grandchildren of a sport where men were tough and played sports where ice skates weren’t involved. Where he could tell his grandchildren the Thanksgiving joke that lives for infamy in the Manning household.

“Eli, please pass the turkey?. Wait, better let Peyton do it.”

The original purchasers of these tickets, who paid face value plus fees, are really taking it in the neck.

I predict the NFL is going to have a really hard time selling season ticket packages next year. Once bitten, twice shy. People are not going to be able to count on selling a few tickets at a profit to defray expenses.

“Nice bods on these Redskins cheerleaders!”

Cowboys traded them to Washington for a left tackle.

January 11, 1987: NYG head coach Bill Parcells is about to get a Gatorade bath as the clock winds down on the Giants' 17-0 victory over the Redskins in the NFC Championship Game ... arguably the greatest game played at the old Giants Stadium.

The tickets are the least expensive aspect of attending a game, parking, transportation not to mention food and hot chjocolate which they always run out of. So who wants to spend a coupla hundred a person to watch two teams battling for last place tie.

“Free isn’t free. There are parking expenses, impossible cost of food, and getting to and from the game taking up most of the day.”.....

As far as I am concerned, those “Free tickets”, as you have suggested, would NEVER be used. Hence NO extra worry about paying parking, etc. I’ll save the money and burn the tickets.

$7 seems terribly over priced, for what it is.

How much would they have to pay out to guarantee their immediate extinction? That’s what it would take to get me to go.

I think you are totally right about season ticket sales. If you can get premium seats for a discount, why buy the the whole season package at inflated prices.

Oh, and yeah, I'm sure it's because they lost one game, not because of the "protests". Thanks 11th_VA.

There's a group of former NY Jets season ticket holders who have been engaging in a "sort-of-boycott" for several years for exactly that reason. They stopped making payments on their personal seat licenses and canceled their season tickets. This started before the whole national anthem debacle ... it was a response to the putrid teams the Jets had been putting on the field in recent years.

The best part about the story is that these fans would still attend every home game. They bought tickets on the secondary market that are cheaper -- and for better seats -- than the season tickets they used to hold. LMAO.

From http://heavy.com/sports/2015/11/highest-scoring-games-nfl-history-giants-saints/:

Redskins 72, Giants 41 (1966)

The NFL’s highest scoring game also involves the Giants, in an NFC East shootout for the ages. At no point did the Giants lead in this game, even though they outgained the Redskins in total yards 389-341. The Giants finished 1-12-1 that season, and gave up an average of 35.8 points per game.

So nice to see the BLM/NFL Slum Dog Millionaires are still rolling down hill. They should make Lynch the new Commissioner.
