The Texas church shooter who mercilessly shot dead 26 people and injured 24 others was an 'outcast' who 'preached his atheism' online.
Former classmates say Devin Patrick Kelley, 26, who stormed First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs in Texas and opened fire on Sunday, was 'creepy', 'crazy' and 'weird'.
Patrick Boyce, who attended New Braunfels High School with the killer, told DailyMail.com: 'He had a kid or two, fairly normal, but kinda quiet and lately seemed depressed.
'He was the first atheist I met. He went Air Force after high school, got discharged but I don't know why. 'I was just shocked [to hear the news]. Still havent quite processed how he could have done that.'
Nina Rose Nava, who went to school with the gunman, wrote on Facebook: 'In (sic) in complete shock! I legit just deleted him off my fb cause I couldn't stand his post. 'He was always talking about how people who believe in God we're stupid and trying to preach his atheism'

I’m acquainted with atheists who are not like that; I just can’t understand why some of them are, or care at all what other people believe.
It’s almost like a resentment, and as if another’s belief is somehow a threat to the atheist - which strikes me as a sign of great insecurity.
I figure by now the usual suspects will be crying that we need more gun control. The only thing that stopped him was another man with a gun and the f****n coward ran away.
Lately, I've begun to give more people the benefit of the doubt that 'autocorrect' mangles their spelling.
Marginal personalities, who are hearing a constant drumbeat of hate for everything Christian.
[[which strikes me as a sign of great insecurity.]]
That’s precisely it- You’re right- there are atheists who are perfectly content keeping their unbelief to themselves- or even to discuss their unbelief in a civil manner- it’s the angry hateful ones though that present as insecure-
“How did any of these people get through high school?”
It’s next to impossible to flunk out of high school these days.
I wonder how recently he volunteered to teach Bible study. If he bragged about his atheism it doesn’t make sense for him to volunteer to teach Bible study, unless he had stopped being atheist or wanted to use that as a disguise for being an atheist.
Maybe he led “Bible study” with the Arab-sounding names that liked that church’s facebook. That would be a way to plan Islamist attacks without scrutiny... Seems like the guy has always been kind of violent and could be a prime target for Muslim conversion...
We’ll probably find out more soon.
Somebody said Conservative Treehouse said he was court-martialed over child porn but somebody there might have mistaken the only online info I could find about his court-martial. It listed various legal actions, and the person above Kelley’s listing was being charged with porn. The spokesperson cited in this article says it was for domestic abuse.
If a vegan atheist does crossfit, what do they tell you about first?
LOL! I’ve found vegetarianism/veganism much more of an ‘identity’ these days than atheism. They can get very arrogant and judgmental about it.
Supposedly spent a year in the stockade for his family assault. I wonder how he felt about the Bergdahl sentence.
Pieces of the puzzle to note:
- He was dishonorably discharged from the Air Force in 2014 for abusing his wife and child.
- His mother-in-law has a P.O. Box address in Sutherland Springs.
I’m betting there was another recent incident of domestic abuse while living in New Braunfels. Logically, this would cause the wife to take their child(ren) and flee to her mother’s home in Sutherland. That seems to be the connection. Thinking we will hear that his family and mother-in-law are among the dead/injured at that church.
Simply recon, perhaps.
What do Christians and Jews say?
Dressed in all black + Atheist + Violent = Antifa
VBS usually lasts a week and typically consists of kids singing songs, doing skits, and having Bible stories read to them from picture books. The curriculum such as it is is set in advance.
As a VBS teacher’s aide he probably kept the kids in line and helped sing songs or read the picture books aloud. No real expertise is required.
His Facebook “likes” included several atheist groups. And CNN.
Maybe.
But on FB he was asked why he shaved his beard and he said it was a long story. IOW, there’s a reason other than that he was just tired of his beard.
I wonder when and why the photos were taken, of him with the beard and of him without it. And when each was taken.
There could be a Muslim angle. The large number of Arab-sounding names that liked the church’s FB page seems really odd. I wonder how many Arabs there are in that small town. If not many, then how and when did that church’s FB page come to the attention of these Arab-sounding folks?
My father-in-law was chaplain of a maximum-security prison in TX. He says the mentality of criminals lines pretty squarely with the mentality of Islam, so those who are inclined to violence and/or making excuses are vulnerable to the proselytizing of Muslims.
Hard to say what was going on with him. Could be several things. I guess we’ll see.
Wouldn't surprise me. I'm sure the MSM will downplay any connectionif they note it at all.
Well one thing is for certain. The shooter is no less longer an atheist.
