In an interview with Arizona Senator John McCain for Thursday’s NBC Today, Senior Correspondent Tom Brokaw invited the Republican lawmaker to attack President Trump and painted the liberal media as the victim: “In the course of your political career, especially as a presidential candidate – as I learned first hand – you had some mixed relations with the press. The President has no use for the press, he has turned the country against us, in many ways.”
McCain was quick to agree with Brokaw’s whining: “Yeah, I think the role of the press is more important than ever before. I hate the press, okay? But the fact is, without a free press in this country, a pillar of democracy is destroyed.”

The media turned against the country!
I don’t rightly know.........................
‘60s ? That media was covering for two sex predators that stole the 1960 election.
Isn’t McCain the moron who voted for “official” reporters to have special legal status and protections unobtainable by citizen journalists? Isn’t that the same thing as a state sanctioned press?
How DARE all you insolent FReepers mock and ridicule a RESPECTED MEMBER OF THE PRESS LIKE TOM BROKAW???
Don’t you people realize that he’s the LEGITIMATE PRESS unlike anyone who disagrees with him???
He filters the new for us and decides what we’re going to be thinking about so we don’t strain ourselves with too much liberty and freedom and we should bow down and be grateful to him for using his enlightened liberal mind to tell us what to think!!!
[/sarcasm]
It looks like it comes from “George of the Jungle.”
It’s from George of the Jungle.
I never saw that movie, even though I like the star, what’s his name.....................................
Decades of lies are coming home to roost
Brendan Fraser. I haven’t seen it, either. I just sourced the quote from the clip.
Which effectively means we don't have a "free press." We have a captured press monopoly for one party.
What we really need is a free press that is not controlled by left wing ideological forces.
This is true.
And I could have gone back 100-150 years ago when the media was commonly known as Yellow Journalism and liars like Hearst and Pulitzer actually conned our country into the Spanish American War.
President Trump is a gracious host.
Since 1992 when I saw them use their power to deliberately manipulate the people into believing the economy was bad under President Bush.
I realized back in 1992 they were a Democrat propaganda system, and I've hated them ever since.
What Brokaw and McCain ought to be discussing is which one of them is going to kick off first.
BS
McCain is the single biggest leaker source and friend the media has in Washington .
Back in his 1999 Run for the Republican presidential nomination a reporter asked John McCain who exactly was the constituency he represented.
McCain unhesitatingly replied, “ The press (media)”
are the lefties then against free press(by their own words) when they attack Fox News?
The media turned the American people against the media. President Trump just pointed that out in a manner that the far left media could no longer ignore.
News Flash Tom...my opinion of the Lame Stream Media was formed long before Donald Trump ran for President. Donald Trump’s campaign and election just made the obvious even more obvious. The media, for the most part, are nothing more than the propaganda arm of the DNC.
And Trump simply had the guts to say what a very large portion of the public has been thinking for YEARS, Mr. Brokaw. It’s one of the reasons we elected him: because he is the first person in a very, very long time who could HONESTLY take the oath to defend this nation and her Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic.
