A laptop computer recovered from the Las Vegas hotel room where Stephen Paddock launched the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history was missing its hard drive, depriving investigators of a potential key source of information on why he killed and maimed so many people, ABC News has learned.

Has anyone ever stayed there? Where do those steps in the top go down to? That would be a question. Standard stairwell I suppose?

I have a mac book pro with an SSD. I cannot imagine anyone suggesting my computer doesn’t have a hard drive.

I guess they carted off the hard drive with the dead body of the shooter. What a sham!!! The FBI is either plum stupid or, pulling off an Obama/Clinton inspired cover-up. I feel so sorry for all American folks that lost dearly loved ones, they are not being serviced or supported with the truth of this horrible tragedy.
...
Perfect summary.

The steps are the fire stairwell which goes all the way up and down the building. This guy was staying there a couple of weeks ago and took a look at the stairs:

9. There is an exit staircase right next to Paddock's room.

No locks, no alarms, no signs & most importantly?

No Cameras. pic.twitter.com/GF0JoXJaq3— Falco (@Nick_Falco) October 15, 2017

The gun deal gone wrong scenario is ridiculous. He legally purchased these weapons so that would make him the most idiotic gun dealer in the West.

Secondly, he clearly prepped for this attack - casing various venues, the video cameras set up to monitor the hallway, sending his dogface girlfriend away and sending her money to buy a house, the ballistic calculations on the notepad, the gloves he was wearing so he didn’t burn himself while firing, taking a hammer with him to knock out the windows and now the lack of hard drive - its all very obviously a planned attack.

So he removed the hard drive and tossed it in the hallways trash - it was long destroyed and gone before the keystone cops even discovered it was missing. Big deal - common sense move if you want to cover your tracks. Smarter than just erasing it with a commercial program. Law enforcement can recover deleted data so this again shows Paddock was no dummy.

The only conspiracy I see is the hotel trying to CYA from lawsuits since they clearly did not contact the police very fast. That is typical of Vegas hotels - they want to handle things in house. They aren’t telling us something but its probably not some grand big deal - more like the fact their security team screwed up.

Yep. It looks to me like the stairwell is awfully close to that door. A vantage point to attack from (rooms) and an alternate escape route (other than elevators). Though 32 floors is quite a ways up but he (they?) needed the elevation to attack as performed.

Over 500 people injured besides the dead - it was in the news a lot. Don’t have a direct source but I’ve seen it claimed multiple times at multiple places.

No reason it couldn’t be both. Why limit yourself to one criminal activity when there is money to be made in another.

Do you think Hitlery limits herself?

Floors 35-39 on that building are actually an entirely separate hotel, The Four Seasons, which has its own elevator banks but shares the same fire stairwell.

As to the “ISIS did it theory” The Four Seasons is half-owned by a Saudi prince and is a favorite place for Saudis to say in Vegas, and therefore must have a lot of muslims on staff.

Maybe the escape plan was up?

Calling someone insane gives evildoers a wonderful cover. Hey. He was crazy. Of course he took way too many weapons and used a laptop with no hard drive. He ate lizard tails for breakfast and shaved his ankles. Riiiiiight.

Too easy. This is the most obvious cover up of SOMETHING of almost any crime or scandal I’ve ever heard of.

Uh, SSD’s are manufactured with standard HD form factors. If there was a drive, SSD or otherwise, they would have found it. Others have suggested that it was run from a portable or live USB/DVD. Which is possible. USB’s can be configured to support persistence (i.e. you can save data to the USB from which you run the OS). However, I doubt this. They would have found the USB or the DVD in the laptop or on premises. When they the HD was missing, that means that either the HD(s) or USB(s) or DVD were not found. This lends a lot of credence to the idea that he wasn’t alone. Whoever was with him, pulled the drive/USB/DVD and left.

He was certainly spending like a Saudi prince.

One guy who competed against him in a slot tournament for $100,000 prize indicated the basket was full of tickets with Stephen Paddock’s name on it - he knew he was gonna win - and he did.

Paddock was playing a very-high-limit video poker machine at the rate of $120,000/hr according to that article (don’t have link now). Paddock would often speak of playing for 12-14 hours. That is what I call some serious cash. Or bank. Or whatever term one likes.

Hard to say what the local LEOS are investigating - As I recall reading the FBI took everything, camera evidence from Casino, the weapons, even concert attendees who received their cell phone back “wiped” (with a cloth?) ... Deep state shiite? And now no hard drive? As a PC consultant of 25 years plus absent a USB boot flash drive a “hard drive free” laptop is useless for anything - nothing to boot.

Sigh. Mr. Sessions?
