A laptop computer recovered from the Las Vegas hotel room where Stephen Paddock launched the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history was missing its hard drive, depriving investigators of a potential key source of information on why he killed and maimed so many people, ABC News has learned.

Bet he left a slice of pizza on top of his laptop, as a mocking clue for FBI.

LOL, OMG, who is doing this investigation? Who removed his hard drive? Did he do it after he died?
That sure does happen a lot when the FBI gets involved, for some odd reason.............
No trust for that group.
This happened with the San Bernadino “lone wolf” shooting as well. Two of them so I guess they were lone wolves.
Their laptop HD disappeared as well. I remember footage of FBI divers looking in a nearby lake.
Good way to not get flak for missing a criminal conspiracy = make the conspiracy disappear.
Yeah riiiiight missing!
Yes, an evil power exists that’s beyond the evil of the massacre itself.
Like beyond a basal skin mole-there’s a malignant spreading tumor.
As soon as the blurry eyes closed photo of the ‘lone wolf’ surfaced, I felt there was much more at work.

I was wondering if these days, the gov’t even needs to physically get a hold of a hard drive.
Don’t the phone companies work with gov’t to share information re: their customers, and doesn’t the NSA have the capability to already know what’s on people’s hard drives? I could well be wrong, but I think they do, and perhaps this might be why reports of gov’t seizing computers seems to be much less in recent times.
[Did he do it after he died?]
Probably. Then he threw it out one of the windows where it landed in bushes. A homeless person was amazed to find a perfectly good hard drive that worked for his laptop. Now he can check stock quotes from his cardboard box. Of course he’s cleaned up the hard drive to have more space. Somehow, he accidentally got a copy of Hillary’s Bleach Bit which must have jumped over to the NSA cloud servers and deleted only Hillary’s emails. You know, like anything Lois Lerner did.
Then, he assumed his position on the floor as the guy who did it all. Hiding evidence but renting the room in his real name, well-known to the Mandalay Bay.
See? It’s all very straightforward.
(not attacking you; just writing the script)
I am aware of three gun shops where he bought guns. All purchases were legal and had backround checks. I personally verified this with the owners/manages.
Mad
If Snowden is accurate, they have ‘key stroke’ knowledge of what you type - even if you erase it. Not sure what programs.
This smells like a Fast & Furious to me. Arms dealer in a ‘controlled sale’ that went wrong. Rather than admit their own incompetence, Deep State is blaming a ‘lone wolf actor’...with mental problems... and a cloud of b.s.
Call logs for sure. Kept for a long time - especially since 9/11. Back in the days of when hacking and DOS attacks were starting up - chat rooms were logged and kept for some period of time - even the basic ones that seems to be only “live” back and forth.
In 2007, Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung Hui removed the hard drive of his computer and disposed of his cell phone shortly before the massacre. Authorities even searched a pond for the missing digital media, but the devices were never recovered.
The 2008 Northern Illinois shooter, Steven Kazmierczak, removed the SIM card from his phone and the hard drive from his laptop, and neither was recovered.
In 2012, Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza had removed the hard drive from his computer and smashed it with a hammer or screwdriver.
Interesting—missing hard drives from all these guys who “just snapped.” Makes me think about the Navy Yard shooting in 2013, where 12 people were killed. The shooter had complained about hearing voices, but otherwise had recently been employed as a contractor by the Navy.
Someone close to me subsequently worked at the Navy Yard as a contract specialist, and one of the long-time employees told her that the shooter seemed to be picking his targets rather than just indiscriminately shooting everyone in sight. That incident still smells to high heaven to me. Conspiracies that would have seemed unbelievable to me a few years ago pale in comparison to what is really happening now.
Someone goes to great lengths to kill lots of people, but they don’t want the world to know....why? Not buying that... Paddock was a high paid hitman that laundered money via gambling. He participated in this, not knowing he was going to be one of the deceased...? I don’t know, but the cover story crap is a load of bs.
Rembember how ISIS quickly after the shooting said Paddock was one of theirs and then doubled and tripled down on their claim?
The missing hard drive would fit such a scenario.
Say Paddock makes his jihad video in the room beforehand and an ISIS guy takes the hard drive with the video on it and leaves, in order to broadcast it at some future time of their choosing.
[laundered money via gambling]
At a minimum, I’d say. Unless he won $300+ million dollars in Powerball and could blow money like that without batting an eye.
His house got “robbed”, remember?
Removed by whom and when?
Do we KNOW it was removed by the shooter? Do we know it was removed before the shooter died? Do we know it was removed before any law officers entered the shooter’s room?
I don’t think we know the answers to any of those questions, and I am not convinced “the authorities” will give us straight answers to them.
I once read a story about how all of the kiddie porn found on computers like this are often times duplicates of photos found on other computers.
This coincidence points to either a real low inventory of kiddie porn, or it all gets transmitted from the same place.
A kiddie porn senrnce will keep most peoples’ mouths shut.
