California permanently eliminates high school exit exam requirement

SACRAMENTO — California has permanently scrapped its high school exit exam under legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday.

The California High School Exit Examination was a requirement to receive a diploma in the state, but the legislature voted in 2015 to drop it for the high school classes of 2015 to 2018. Diplomas were retroactively awarded to anyone who met all other graduation requirements after the test became a mandatory must-pass exam in 2004.

That resulted in an estimated 40,000 former high school students receiving their diplomas. The bill signed by Brown, AB830 by Ash Kalra, D-San Jose, permanently eliminates the test.

California releases annual test scores — stagnant results, persistent gaps

http://www.sfgate.com/education/article/California-releases-annual-test-scores-12232610.php

Every year, state education officials release standardized test scores — and every year they say the same thing: The achievement gap persists.

This year’s scores are no different.

Education officials across California released their scores Wednesday, each highlighting what they saw as positive news in the data while lamenting the stubborn, and in some cases widening, achievement gap.

Despite decades of effort and billions of dollars in funding, test scores for white, Asian American and wealthier students are much higher than those of their black, Latino and low-income peers. On computerized tests administered in the spring, for example, just 19 percent of African American students were proficient in math, compared with 73 percent of Asian American students.

The ‘No Fault” State.

The ‘No Papers Required’ State.

The No ‘Exit Exam’ State.

The only true exit exam that matters is how many stay entrenched in a liberal utopian paradise or leave with their kids for greener pastures and brighter futures.

Why not just stock diplomas on the shelves of grocery stores right beside toilet paper.

I don’t remember having to take a high school exit exam. You either had the grades/credits to graduate or you didn’t. I knew a few people who didn’t and had to go back and get the credits As long as they did it before they aged out at 19 they were good.
Graduating should be about your grades not whether or not you pass some stupid test.

Just the other day a university class demanded the professor change his in-class test to an open book take home test.

Aw yes, the march to enlightenment...

Governor Moonbeam could just have students write their own diplomas on rolls of toilet paper. Saves time.

Those who can’t write can just put down “X”. If they can do an “X” that is.

“Rap” can be considered college credit. There should also be a class in Kardashian Trivia.

When you have to take all those remedial courses that don't count towards a degree, thank Jerry Brown.

That is 40,000 students who met all other requirements except showing they had basic proficiency of math and language at a 10th grade level...

The obvious solution is to make math easier. “Math is hard,” according to that well-known American philosopher Barbie.

Then why bother having teachers?

For that matter, why bother having skools?

Actually, to get rid of teachers you would have to get rid of their unions, and that won't ever happen in Kalifornica.

One of my buds who has a temp agency in L.A. still states the same thing. MOST of these grads who come from the CA system are just plain stupid and their college diplomas are worthless.

They could not even pass the employment IQ test that is comparable to Google and Microsoft. He had to dumb it down, even the math test. 42 / 7 - 3 + ? (They answered 90% wrong)

Spelling was absolutely atrocious: MOST of them could not even differentiate between ‘LOSE’ and ‘LOOSE’ in a sentence.

Why send your children to such a pathetic school system? They’d learn more at home using the great home schooling material. But of course, there’s the free baby sitting and meals at school.

EASIER THAN SOLVING THE PROBLEM. You cannot realize the deterioration that is going on in order to make this a safe state for illegals. It permeates much of our society and all of our government.
