The original Star Trek series debuted on TV 51 years ago - September 8, 1966.
Since then it has spawned several movies and sequel / prequel series'.
Tonight, the latest series, Star Trek Discovery will premier at 8/7c on CBS, free.
As to the remaining episodes, you will have to pay for them on CBS All Access.
Will you want to continue watching and pay for it? Watch tonight's episode and decide for yourself.
For you folks in the Eastern and Central time zones, it begins in only a few minutes.
Isn’t this the Star Trek where “Klingons = Trump” or some such nonsense?
Hard pass.
Kuck Trek.
It has been predicted to be super PC but we will soon find out.
If it turns out to be any good I'll be watching it by way of bittorrent.
Was not super impressed with the trailers. Fear they will just be trying to push a political agenda. We shall see.
No.
Will record it and watch later tonight or tomorrow.
I am rather surprised at The Orville on FOX. If Seth quit trying to be funny [which he isn’t], that show has the potential to be a decent dramatic series.
I’m expecting it to be a lot of PC indoctrination about how bug chasing and gift giving are good and Trump = Klingon = bad, but I’m going to give it a chance.
Been watching Seth MacFarlane’s “The Orville” and pleasantly pleased. Really like the ‘Original Series’ look & production style, not one lens flare so far. Plots are very Star Trekish and even with their rating falling some, I bumped it up to “Record Series” on my DVR—
Tonight, we get the premiere of “Star Trek: Discovery” on CBS after football. Will DVD to watch later yet I do not have much hope it will be anything but a second-rate PC take with lens flares and gay characters galore. The uniforms in the clip are supposed to be from 10 years before the Original Series but they look too ST: The Motion Picture-ish for my taste or anywhere near Star Trek cannon for when the Enterprise captain was Robert April.
Speaking of cannon— Hell, Spock never ever mention an adopted sister but then again, he never previously mentioned the brother that took them to see God in Star Trek V.
Hope I am wrong and the series overcomes my expectation but not wagering the farm on it—
I watched one episode of the Orville and I need Seth MacFarlane to tone down his makeup until it no longer overshadows that of the creatures from the other planets.
Actually the one on the right I a dead ringer for the Boston Police Commissioner,William Evans-——a walking skeleton.
.
I’ve watched all three so far.
Hey, it is what it is.
It’s okay.
The episode (#03) where they were going to perform a sex change on an infant was covered more from a middle to Right side of the isle position.
All the crew of the Orville was dead set against it, and defended the child against it. They even turned one of the parents against it.
In the end, the all male race on the parents home planet stepped in and forced it.
Mad the crew and one parent look good, and the home planet/race look very totalitarian.
My condolences... “:^)
I will watch episode 1 tonight on cBS, but they are making me go to a Costa Rica link to watch the rest of them. It might take a day to view it, but they have it in HD AND commercial free.
“If Seth quit trying to be funny [which he isnt], that show has the potential to be a decent dramatic series.”
This is the crux of the problem. It’s SUPPOSED to be a comedy, not a drama, but it hasn’t made up its mind yet.
I appreciate the plot line. Sometimes Seth does rip the crazy leftists.
