Confusion Over Whether Trump Wants To Give Illegal Immigrants Citizenship
Daily Caller ^ | 09/14/2017 | Alex Pfeiffer

President Donald Trump says he isn’t considering giving citizenship to illegal immigrants, but his spokeswoman Lindsay Walters and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi say he is.

Trump tweeted last week that he wants Congress to “legalize DACA,” a departure from his campaign trail rhetoric that he wouldn’t support amnesty. According to CNN, Walters told reporters Thursday that the Trump administration “will not discuss amnesty,” but “what they will discuss is a responsible path forward.”

Walters then defined a “responsible path” as potentially including “legal citizenship over a period of time.” The White House has been using “responsible immigration reform” as a euphemism for amnesty.

Shortly after Walters’ comments, however, Trump told reporters, “We’re not looking at citizenship, we’re not looking at amnesty. We’re looking at allowing people to stay here.”

No confusion. President Trump said on the tarmac at Fort Meyers, Florida that there will be no citizenship for these DACA people.

Have to agree.

Once you let them stay, citizenship will come in time.

Smoke and mirrors from our side is no better than smoke and mirrors from their side.

Whatever.

Realistically, there is and has always been zero percent chance that the US government is going to round up and deport 800,000 people who were born here and have never known any other country.

People like to indulge in fantasies all the time, but there is reality.

They need to get in line like all other immigrants..

If they do not they should be deported if they comit crimes and no welfare

I think the press is trying to get to Trump supporters...nothing else has worked..

No more DACAs are allowed in...

It is up to congress to find a solution ..Trump can always veto it..

They were not born here. Separate fact from fantasy.

There is no confusion. The President is using DACA as a bargaining chip to fund the border wall and the immigration proposal - RAISE.

Open your eyes.

This is interesting you think "Dreamers" were born in the USA? You don't even understand the issue. I wonder if the misconception is prevalent.

You are confusing birthright citizenship with the DACA folks who were not born here, but brought here illegally by their illegal alien parents after they were born.

Because of a judicial corruption of the 14th amendment, anyone born here is a citizen, regardless of the status of their parents. We are not talking about anywhere near 800,000.

Why would we give citizenship to anyone who invaded our country illegally?
Lock them up until they can be deported.

This headline moves the goal line. Amnesty is not about citizenship. That has never been the issue. The issue is rewarding those who have broken our laws with American’s jobs, free healthcare, welfare, social security that they never paid for. Amnesty is about inducing others to flood in with or without children. They vote anyway. It has been shown the 5 million voted in the presidential election in 208. To hell with citizenship. Did you know that a law cannot be past to negate a violation of the preexisting laws. That is EX post facto and is uncostitutional as hell and is invalid. Dont let the Rino Socialist make you think they are doing good with illegal aliens because they aren’t bestowing citizenship on these criminals. That is a false argument for the mentally weak.

RE:”President Donald Trump says he isn’t considering giving citizenship to illegal immigrants, but his spokeswoman Lindsay Walters and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi say he is. “

OK, I know this game.

So they set expectations for citizenship so if Trump-Pelosi-Schumer gives them Green cards then those who defend anything Trump does can claim that he won a big one by not giving them citizenship, when Green cards would be a much bigger prize for illegals than DACA is now.

Cue the snap polls of Trump supporters. Once those are announced, it will confirm your point.

Tell you what, though: no way I’d commit to any kinetic action in a CWII scenario with most of these handwringers who “are through” w/Trump over this particular hoo-haw. These folks will head for the weeds at the first opportunity.

Summer soldiers and sunshine patriots.

No he’s not. He’s not tying his support for DACA amnesty to anything! Except some vague “massive border security” promise. The same lie we’ve been hearing for the last 60 years.

More illegals always come. They always get amnesty eventually. And the increased border security never happens.

Trump is now doing exactly the same thing all the other liars have done: the wall will come later.

He’s also calling the crappy little fence repairs in the desert his “wall”.

Once more we are played for fools. This time we don’t forget or forgive. Might as well vote for democrats. There is no difference.

I thought his message was already clear. it’s up to congress and we know what congress will do, amnesty. so he is complicit. Notice he will not say he will deport them. he can’t, because if congress votes to not deport, he is stuck with congress’ action since he passed the ball to them.
