Robert E. Lee Elementary School is no more. The oldest magnet school in Hillsborough County, which some school board members were trying to rename as part of a nationwide movement to remove Confederate symbols, burned down on Tuesday night as hundreds of residents watched and children cried.

I went to a good school, too.
I also remember what it was like to be 10 years old. LOL.

“I find it hard to believe any tears were shed by kids over this. If my elementary school had burned to the ground, we would have been celebrating for weeks. LOL.”
Lol, many children would, but actually it’s not as fun as a child would think.
When I was in Second grade my elementary school caught fire one evening, a couple of weeks before Christmas break. The back half of the building was a total loss, the front mostly smoke and water damage. My classroom was destroyed.
We had an early Christmas break, which we liked, but for the rest of the year we attended school in one of the larger churches in our small town.
It got pretty boring not having playground equipment for Physical Education and recess. Sometimes our teacher would walk us to the burned school and we would play on the equipment.
Your school burning wouldn’t have been as much fun as you would think:)

It was named after an inappropriate person,

... I want to make something very, very clear
because I know that in our atmosphere this can be contentious
but indications now have nothing to do with the name of this school.

My son went to a private high school that was furnished with rejects from Haitian earthquake relief rejected furniture. When they moved to the planned nice new high school everyone was mad. He said he liked the trailers and crappy furnishings.
I suspect it was more because they had walk outside between the main building and trailers but who am I to say?

Chaos and anarchy work for everybody on the left. The useful idiots view it as a license to do as they please. For their leaders and strategists it is a means to an end. It tears down the old order and they believe, it will have the populace at large willing to accept a strong centralized power to bring peace and calm.

The school district here is about 1/3 of the state of Connecticut. The school (about 2/3 minority) is not in the best of neighborhood.

I used to work with a guy whose part time job was with my employer (he was a trained EMT) and whose full time job was with the arson squad of the Boston Fire Department. He used to tell me that technology and the latest investigation techniques meant that they could almost always catch even the smartest arsonists. He told me that it's understood among arson investigators that there are even *firemen* who commit arson and he said that investigators can almost always catch even them.

Actually the Harvey Milk is very appropriately named as its sole purpose is to stick its hose in the rear of other ships and pass lubricants.
