Robert E. Lee Elementary School is no more. The oldest magnet school in Hillsborough County, which some school board members were trying to rename as part of a nationwide movement to remove Confederate symbols, burned down on Tuesday night as hundreds of residents watched and children cried.

School represents stability to many children whose home lives are chaotic. At school they have a teacher who loves them and who is there every day with a smile on her face. At school they have breakfast and lunch and sometimes a snack provided by the teacher or a parent. Of course, there are exceptions to the smiling teacher rule. I could not get my son to go to class last year on many occasions. He hated his teacher who was a bully. He wouldn’t have cried over the school burning down. He would have been in awe and maybe scared. One or two of my girls might have cried over their school burning down because their social lives would be interrupted.
This is how the Antifa Communists resolve differences of opinion.
We pulled him out and put him into our local neighborhood school. It took 3 weeks of furious effort to catch up with the class. Having been fired up to work that hard to catch up, he maintained that level of effort. Right up to straight A report cards through the balance of elementary, junior high and high school. He treatment at the "magnet" school had been punishment for being top fly on the manure pile. The only net value of that experience was his acquisition of nearly native ability to speak Spanish.
Back on topic...I don't hold "magnet" schools in very high esteem. I wouldn't be at all surprised if arson was involved.
This is insane! Those poor kids. :(
They may physically be adults, but their mentality is that of a child.
They should posthumously name it ‘Antifa Elementary’.
Sounds to me like commies stooping to perhaps their lowest level yet to spark and ignite that “revolution” they seek, at least in recent times. They even admit that they don’t care how it begins. In fact, the more outrageous the act, the better, in their screwed-up-in-the-head misguided little minds, because what they’re after is a strong anti-communist response that might lead to an all-out revolution. Not the brightest people in the world here.
You are so right! The newer ones look so “institutional”. I mean if you look at it... is it a school, a small psych hospital, a hospice? They are “cold”. Older ones have “character” and the school I talked about had parents who went there... bring back THEIR kids for school. To me, that is wonderful. (((Hugs))) Mom
Are Antifa such scum that they would burn down a children’s school?
Are they such disgusting terrorists as that?
Yes.
They are.
It looks like a brick building, not a stick frame building, so hopefully there is enough of the structural interior to rebuild it.
Democrat arson. Trump needs to go after those giving money to these groups but he has blinders on. Hangs out with the Clintons and George Soros and the rest of the democrats who are behind the violent protests.
The Robert Byrd school has not burned.
Subjective term
Madness, no. Domestic terrorism, yes.
“Madness” is letting them get away with it with no pain coming back at them.
Nice looking school, it is a shame. They do not build then like this anymore.
Reminds one of Mao’s Red Guards.
LOL, I had a 68 Charger before I got the 64. Still miss it, but you can only have so many toys at a time :( The Charger needed a paint job when I first got it just as the Dukes of Hazzard premiered. My Black friends would tell me to paint it orange with the Confederate flag on the roof and install a horn that played Dixie. Actually I was thinking of putting in the “beep beep” horns that were in the Plymouth Road Runners, it was a rare dealer option on the other Chrysler cars. GOOD LUCK finding those for a reasonable price.
I was very fortunate to go a great school...sorry for you.
