Transgender and gender-nonconforming employees will receive greater and more explicit protections this week as new California employment regulations take effect Saturday.
But some worry the new regulations might put employers in a difficult place: wanting to do right by their employees and follow the law, but lacking the resources and the training to do so.
Thats why state Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens (Los Angeles County), gutted his own higher education bill to put forth a new proposal that would institute mandatory workplace training around gender identity and expression in the same way that sexual-harassment training is required today.
Gender identity refers to the gender a person uses to identify themselves male, female or neither, an identity more commonly known as genderqueer or nonbinary while gender expression has to do with how a person presents themselves in dress, speech or behavior.

Hey, more reason not to do business in California.
California Über Alles
Time to legislate anorexia and bulimia as normal and tell those people starving yourself and purging is not only OK, but to be encouraged.
Trannies kill themselves at 3X the rate of normal people. That is because it is a mental illness.
These deaths are at the hands of those who stand in the way of treatment and coddle kids who “feel different.”
And then,of course, the battle through the Federal courts would begin. And I'd surely lose in the 9th Circus...and then it would be on to SCOTUS.
When is that earthquake going to happen along the San Andreas fault?
Long overdue I understand.
Another liberal re-education camp.
I've only spent a night in California on two different trips...the more recent being about 40 years ago.I last set foot in the state about 30 years ago...but that was just to change planes when traveling between the US and Asia (before non-stop flights from the East Coast began).
I don't see myself ever setting foot in the state again and I buy *Florida* orange juice rather than that California cr@p.
I wonder where Californcation get all the $$$ they waste on crap like this?
New government job offering - Commissar for Drag Queen Affairs
Next everyone in California will be required to wear pussy hats, stand on one foot every half hour and stick one finger up their own ass for 5 minutes. It’s called sensitivity and if you question it you are committing a hate crime.
Lord! The current leftis form of NAZI and Communist “Thought Police.”
The U.S. will need Nuremberg-style trials to bring the Demonicrat leadership of Calipornia to justice.
Good grief! What a pantload! How is an employer supposed to keep track of all this crap? Especially since it seems to change quite regularly.
Training for this. Training for that. Training for everything under the sun. At the end of six months, a new hire might be ready to actually start doing the job he was hired to do.
The article states that there is planned training for “transgender awareness” along the lines of current sexual harassment training, and also HOPES that this legislation, IF implemented, will be a bellwether for other states to follow.
I can’t imagine sitting through training which demands me to accept that some individual pretending to be of one sex really is of that sex and not the sex of his/her birth.
It’s creepy when one is in a restroom with one of these people, you want to get out as quickly as possible.
Ugh.
Do transgenders have more rights than the rest of us? Seems like “rights training” is the most that should be needed for a government employee unless some people are more equal than others.
And CA continues to grow less and less competitive.
Once they pull off their energy idiocy, the path to total doom will be irrecoverable. Hope we can keep the Google idiots there, so that they can deal with the “big one” by their silly little wimpy selves.
