Listening to Fox News, the gun the shooter used has been identified as an SKS with 7.62 X 39 ammo, with a scope, and called a "high powered rifle."
Of course an SKS is not high powered, or particularly accurate....but the ignorance, fear, and bias of the Media--even on Fox--is already coming out--to pound the drum against the 2nd Amendment.
LOL
It might have been a red dot sight instead of an actual scope. Journalists/cops and weapons identification being what it is.
What would be a low powered rifle? One that can only shoot through a sheet of tissue paper?
It’s not the tool; it’s the operator.
It occurred in Alexandria, Virginia—with a gun carried from Illinois.
OMG it’s the rooshins again ‘The SKS is a Soviet semi-automatic carbine chambered for the 7.62×39mm round’. Quick we need another special counsel and many more committee meetings and interrogations to see if Bernies commie campaign supplied the rifle to him. Damned rooshins ! /S
This article says he used an M-40.
Other articles said it was an AK-47.
I don’t trust the media.
The weapon he used was an M40 rifle and witnesses report hearing 50 gunshots.

Ten rounds in that type of situations go pretty fast.
An eyewitness this AM identified it as an AK47 having curved mag and was clear that he did not hear auto fire. He called it a Kalashnikov and his terminology indicated military training.
LOL...
An SKS is combat effective.Same round as an AK47,powerful enough to kill easily.
Yep.... it dents a half inch steel plate similar to an AR-15. An M1 goes right through the plate....
As I said in the original post, this is what Fox News is saying now. SKS’ also take long banana magazines.
They called it an M4. Which is a military rifle.
I searched around and tried to find a definitive answer to the question was it semi auto or full auto in 3 round bursts.
I doubt it is in fact an M4, but is an M4 look alike.
Makes no difference, I’m assuming it is a semi-auto .223 black rifle of some fashion.
Pretty common. It is high velocity round normally, but not a very heavy bullet. Does that make it high powered? No.
A 30-06 is a lot more powerful weapon.
A 300 Win Mag is a lot more powerful than that. And very accurate.
I’ve got an old Winchester .348 rifle that is very powerful if you shoot it with a 250gr bullet in the load. And it will kick the crap out of you when you do. smile.
M-40 looks SWEET.
Bernie gòons are apparently lame.
Good Thing...
What do you consider “Hi-Powered” then?
7.62x39 blows bricks and stone up, but it’s an awful battlefield round.
I’m not arguing that it is not lethal. However, the rifle itself is not “high powered.” Rather one of the cheapest rifles available today.
