Deserts make the best walls. Petra, Babylon and Samaria were possible because they were isolated by the surrounding desert. Their foes faced significant logistical obstacles to attack them.

Regulator just needs to put in a well and a solar system to run the pump. A hand pump might even work. Imo anything visible from a ways off advertises “water here”. When resources are scarce no one wants to burn fuel and water to check what looks like a dry hole from afar.

Depending upon where I am, I might not even need a well, just a decent water purification filter. Some locales don’t even need that. But, I spend some time where there is reliable wind and so windmills interest me. So does solar. Mobility, autonomy, a lifeboat if I and my family ever need it, and we just might someday. An RV.

How long do we have??

According to Terry McCaulliff, Friday.

Yep, at 93 million a day, we’re done for by Friday.

The Snowflakes will all die of fright by tonight.

If that is the case, you will know what to do. No one will have to tell you.

We should be so lucky.

Such an odd number... did he calculate it using the number of miles between the earth and sun?

As a Mormon apologist at FR, in contradiction to the Gospel of God’s Grace in Christ, you will probably be around after the Rapture. The chaos factor will be very high once ALL those Jesus is coming for to return to the Father’s House are snatched off the planet. It is good to prepare for what is coming soon, but better prep would be to just get born again and leave in the clouds when you meet The Lord in the air.

Your link isn’t working for me, but I think I’ve seen this list before and it’s very do-able for just about anyone.

One reservation. if this is the list that includes Vienna Sausage: I’ve stopped buying that for longer-term storage. At least in my area, you can no longer buy it in old-fashioned cans, but only the less durable ‘pop tops’.

I’ve got two bugout bags, and saddle-bags for my dog.

It all goes back to Cub Scouts when everyone was roasting weenies around the campfire, but my mother had wrapped a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for me in tin foil ...

For anyone not as concerned as us, at least buy some vegetable seeds and rotate your canned goods. You’re not eating my dog.

One of my fellow Cubs was kind enough to give me a Vienna Sausage to roast on a stick, in the story above.
Today I have big bags of rice and pinto beans in the chest freezer, and many cans of Spam for flavor and intestinal lubrication.

Spam is pretty good fried and with barbecue sauce ;-)

(That was one of the things we learned to cook in Home Ec., back in the ‘60s. Serve it on top of rice.)

Armed individuals and gangs will be looking for people like you to feed

I understand your point. But thugs don't travel. They always prey on their own. And I live out in farm country. Our town is 10 miles from the nearest town with any size.

What you're saying will happen to someone. I have no doubt. The chances of it happening to me and the person doing it actually surviving...pretty slim. I mean, this isn't theory, some group roll up to my neighbor's house and try to take his stuff, the rest of the street will shoot them full of holes. Most of us are vets. One individual and his wife on our street are ex-Army. He's a consultant with the Army and travels to Afghanistan a couple weeks out of the month to train soldiers. Pretty much my whole street is made up of people that have been trained to kill. So, good luck wannabe marauders....

I can only imagine that my story is not unique. It's probably the same for small towns though out the middle of this country.

Re: “Don’t get caught unprepared”: The main thing to prepare for is the return of Jesus Christ in power and glory. If you do not know Him as your lord and savior you are NOT prepared.

April 1861 but with no huge armies converging in battle but brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor, societal breakdown and it will be violent and ugly. It won’t start until the Right and independents finally say enough, we won’t take anymore abuse, assaults or killing of our own. When that happens, it’s on.

Try some mustard, ketchup and some brown sugar mixed together, cover the spam and bake a bit. Mom made this with mashed potatoes in the 70’s many times when her and Dad were making ends meet. Good.
