We haven’t had even 65% eligible voter turnout since 1908, most of the time it has been way less than that, and even less for state and local. So the eligible voters who choose not to vote are actually a bigger % than the turnout for any single party.
Also, the poorest are now the most likely to be obese. I don’t think that has ever happened before, hard to imagine them choosing the hardship sustained civil unrest would bring.
Interrupt the internet/social media/easy entertainment sources and you might see something. There’s generations now that have always had super easy access to entertain themselves with technology. Don’t know how they would handle losing it.

Failure of Civility addresses urban survival situations pretty well, as well as suburban. It first and formost suggest you work with like minded dwellers/neighbors.
Also, in my opinion the “they’ll just shoot you” types are going to be poorly disciplined and lousy shots. If you get to the point that these types are making threats or attacking, you well before that needed to have posted overwatch with instruction to take action the moment opposing forces start to level weapons at you.
It's going to be tough on them.
People who are obese often have many health issues, and are noticeably not in good shape.
They often waddle as they move and are the ones most likely to use the motorized shopping carts for handicapped.
Matter of fact, I RARELY see a really disabled person using them. Virtually always it's someone who weighs at least 350 pounds and could use the exercise.
I doubt those obese urban dwellers will survive long.

I guess my point was that poor people being hungry and desperate to feed themselves and their family was historically a huge motivator for civil unrest. I’m not sure it is too likely it will ever happen when they are so well fed, if not healthily fed.

When it comes to survival I think the majority of people in any community will help each other. It’s the minority that will make trouble and we know who the invading immigrants are who have been placed in small towns all over the nation to proliferate for future rebellion.
Satan has been waiting for what, 5000 years for his brief time in power. The issue I see is that so many nations have crossed the line with pre-born genocide that it is only God’s mercy (and the Holy Spirit) that is keeping chaos at bay.

The question wasn’t really related to my personal situation, but in general.
I’m in N GA. I have a mix up meth-addicts, drunks, and plain old hillbilly trash, and the usual ghetto suspects about 15 miles to the south for neighbors.
It would be difficult to determine friend from foe in the OP scenario since the selfishness that I’ve observed from “neighbors” resembles a third world country sadly - but that is modern Amerika unfortunately.
We are looking to move and get a bit of land soon. Your situation resembles a lot of what I have in mind to be honest.
