Claiming ‘bullying’ by Trump over gruesome joke, Griffin says she’s standing up for free speech BARF

Calling her firing from CNN “censorship,” comedian Kathy Griffin said in a press conference Friday that she would stand up for free speech in the face of fallout from a controversial image of President Trump she tweeted this week.

“I am not afraid of Donald Trump. He is a bully,” Griffin said.

While Griffin expressed remorse for posting an image of herself holding a bloody mask of Trump, she also accused Trump and his family of “bullying” her, and hit out at CNN, which on Wednesday fired her from its New Year’s Eve broadcast.

Fallout from her tweet was quick and severe, with celebrities and members of both parties criticizing Griffin for going too far. Trump responded to the post Wednesday morning, tweeting that Griffin should “be ashamed of herself.”

Based on her own words, she should sue CNN.

Trump didn’t fire her.

The only way she can save herself is to “transition”. Then the Insane Left will welcome her back with open arms. LOL.

Does she stand for the responsibilities and consequences that accompany free speech?

Like many ignorant leftists, Griffin believes that the right to free speech means a right to consequence-free speech.

Griffin's right to free speech was not infringed. She was permitted to make the statement she wanted to make.

Now she faces the consequences.

She, intentionally and with malice aforethought, participated in an effigy slaying of the POTUS. Then she arrogantly stood before global media cameras and displayed the effigy of the severed head. The Lord Jesus said that whatever you THINK in your heart, you you are already guilty of DOING. She not only THOUGHT it; she acted it out, and then proudly DISPLAYED it. I would advise her to repent and confess her sins to Christ, and then start living a life exemplary of a Believer in Christ, with a heart of love.

Free speech does not mean immunity from criticism...it kinda means the opposite.

My younger sister, who has only recently had an epiphany about the Left, used to be a big fan of KG. She actually paid money to see her perform in Boston, and the entire monologue was a diatribe against the Church in which she was raised. At the end of her performance she “dropped trou” and stood there on the stage with her fish-belly white legs, underpants, and her slacks around her ankles.

Even her fans did not know how to react to that.

She has a lot of hatred in her.

The only entity that can “censor” (as in violation of the 1A) is government.

A individual or a company can certainly remove a platform they won from you. But you are free to ply your hate on street corners or other public venues, so long as it does not interfere with public safety nor directly threaten anyone.

So, ms. carrot-top’s grandma, you have your civics lesson for today.

I think the best thing about Trump, is that he is forcing a LOT of people to have an epiphany about the Left.

No other Presidential candidate could have possibly accomplished what Trump has in this area, and it may be the greatest aspect of his legacy.

Indeed. I am elated about my sister. We can be friends now. We were estranged for many years.

Government should never interfere with freedom of speech, but free speech can and in this case should be expensive due to private reactions to that speech.

If she’s standing up for free speech, why is it she took such drastic measures to trash Trump for expressing his/our views?

Trump and his supporters should be beheaded for exercising their free speech?

Kathy..., F A I L !

she does have the right to free speech. if she uses that right to traumatize children, or glorify presidential assassination, we all have to right to object, and respond. if she doesn’t like the response, she created it.

if you can’t stand the heat...

So he’s a bully, but she’s not?

Free speech fore her but if he exercises his right to free speech, he’s a bully?

What a stinking hypocrite.

I hope she just fades away but sadly she’s bigger and more famous now than ever before. Count on her ugly mug being back on tv and stage.

"....Griffin says she’s standing up for free speech...."

I don't see anybody denying Kathy Griffin free speech. She had a medium (film) and a willing partner (the photographer) to produce her "freedom of expression" joke or art piece or whatever this twisted "comedienne" calls what she did.

So she wasn't denied her right to free speech and expression. What she found out though, is that there can be a backlash against what you said, not your right to say it. People don't have to agree with your form of free speech, Kathy. They only have to allow it under the constitution. There is no constitutional protections from doing stupid, disgusting, ugly things. People are going to exercise their freedom of speech to go after you.

Does she think Trump and his family don't have the right to respond in kind?

Griffin can squeal all she wants, but this was of her own doing. An unforced error. A self-inflicted wound. Shot herself in the foot.

She made her own bed. Now she'll have to lay in it for awhile.
