This morning Judge Neil Gorsuch was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court. For such a non-controversial figure, Gorsuch experienced the full might of the Democratic Partys attack machine. Still sour at Senate Republicans blocking Merrick Garland, Obamas first pick to fill the vacancy left by the late Antonin Scalia, through the Biden rulethe Left was determined to stop Gorsuch at all costs. Despite having broad support from across the spectrum in the legal scholar realmObamas former solicitor general supported his nominationand the highest rating from the American Bar Association, Democrats formed a united front to stop him. They had the votes to block Gorsuch through a procedural hurdle, denying Senate Republicans the 60 votes needed to invoke cloture and move to the final confirmation vote. As a result, Senate Republicans nuked the rules, allowing for Gorsuch to be confirmed by a simple majority. Not liking someone because a Republican president nominated him or her isnt a good enough reason to block a judge. Democrats learned that the hard way.
Now, should a second vacancy occur, a) Republicans will not have as much trouble to confirm this person; and b) the composition of the Court could become more decidedly conservative. This is why it was probably best for the Democrats to keep their powder dry, but weve crossed that bridge.

His friends told him not to be so giddy cause TRUMP was just kidding around etc...
I say NO to Andrew Napolitano! He's like a Libertarian, Conservative on some stuff & Liberal on others! There will be backlash if he is picked!
DJT might well get to appoint four or more solid conservative justices. At least two of them will “grow in office” and become liberals.
And one of us just got confirmed to be on SCOTUS. :)
Oh, the “approved” list. LOL! Yeah, you’re right!
“Justice Janice Rogers Brown”. Let’s watch Senate Democrats counter charges of racism and sexism after Trump nominates a black woman to the bench. One thing we’ve learned is that the Dems will be racist and sexist anyway. Chuck Schumer will call her Aunt Jemima and Dianne Feinstein will call her an extremist c-—. The media will see nothing wrong with this behavior.
President Trump has a nice list of a few dozen jurists to work from. Just needs the opportunity now to replace Ginsburg, Sotomayor, Kagan, Roberts, and the rest. It will really remake America to replace these folks with people who understand and rely on the Constitution will ruling, instead of their overt biases and wherever the wind is blowing.
Splitting the 9th circuit into 2 or 3 circuits should be next top court-related undertaking. That and making sure EVERY seat in all courts is filled. Filled with Constitutionally-minded jurists and prosecutors.
...we’d do well if he’d skip the Ivy League graduates and pick jurists trained elsewhere around the country.
Lyn’ Ted and the UNITED STATES Supreme Court? As a promotion by Trump to get him out of the Senate? No on the first, and definitely no on the second. Lyn’ Ted’s next court appearance should be regarding his lies, his campaign fraud, and his questionable citizenship. NEVER onto the USSC. Regarding a position in the Trump administration? How about counselor to Gitmo to represent it unofficially with the Cuban’s? Maybe he could connect with his Cuban roots.
The Supreme Court appointment is a whole other almost sacred job that merits much thought and consideration. I'm sure the legal people have insider opinions and I know Trump has a list.
These are two people I know fairly well, and thus the endorsement. Campaigns are one thing, serious on the job functioning is another.
I and most of us know Lyn’ Ted all too well. He ain’t fit to be dog catcher. My point in my post was that I was surprised, maybe happy, that it took most of 50 comments before someone dragged Lyn’ Ted out as a possible candidate. That’s an improvement, seeing him dropping down and forgotten. Next year, if he follows through with his intent to run for re-election, I’ll happily follow-through with my stated plan to support his opponent with money, etc. Good riddance to Lyn’ Ted once he is finally gone.
Haters gotta hate. Bitterly clinging to hatred jinned up during an election cycle that is well behind us. Sad. You are one hate-filled person.
“...sleepy Ginsberg”
When her granddaughter phoned her after seeing the photo of her sleeping, Ginsberg told her she was drunk because she had wine for lunch. I think that’s hilarious!
I would bet you that she would favor raising the voting age too.
She's probably 75% on life-support right now.
There's little doubt her law clerks are doing all the necessary and voluminous leg-work, research work and opinion-writing after she tells them from a prone position on her office couch what outcome she wants.
Seeing how fragile and how prone to nodding-off she is in her few public appearances, the heavy work-load descending now on the Supreme Court will be daunting for her. Her family and her doctors probably want her to retire now. However, since liberalism is a mental disease, she probably will stick to her seat forever until some mental or some physical condition unseats her for good.

“Haters gotta hate.”
By the time one is in his fifties, or earlier if he’s better at it, a person should be able to see Cruz’s bad character in his face.
Hate?! Lyn’ Ted is not qualified for any national office. Very simple. And, yes, I will contribute to see he fails at re-election. I am done with him. Why do you insist on supporting a liar?
