WASHINGTON (AP) Fourteen million Americans would lose coverage next year under House Republican legislation remaking the nation's health care system, and that figure would grow to 24 million by 2026, Congress' nonpartisan budget analysts projected Monday. The figures dealt a blow to a GOP drive already under fire from both parties and large segments of the medical industry.

millions will CHOOSE to not buy insurance when they are not being FORCED to.
Of course the media is going to focus on the millions who will not get free or heavily subsidized health “insurance” at taxpayer expense. The media will do everything possible to protect Obamacare.
Didn’t 30 million lose insurance from Bamicare?
Millions lost out and are still losing when they crammed obamacare down our throats. It all works out in the end, but freedom is always preferable to socialism and tyranny.
BS. Fake crap
Nobody needs Insurance for anything except for a major medical Catastrophe like a Heart Attack or Cancer. Yhis is the biggest problem, there is no longer a Doctor Customer relationship. Everyone should PAY out of their Own Pocket to go see the doctor and for most medical necessities.
When you start Paying for your own Health Care, you will find out how CHEAP it really is. I make deals with my Doctor.
Yes my Major Medical plan was cancelled due to Obamacare because it didn’t cover:
Gender Reassignment
Pre Natal care for couples in their 50’s
Abortion on demand for couples in their 50’s.
Yup - they don’t lose coverage they elect not to buy it. Premiums and deficits go down.
BUT - if the Insurance exchanges crater under Obama care as insurers leave does everybody lose insurance unless provided by employer?
The reports will be misleading on this.
News media and the Left always play the OMG factor, People uninsured, breaking up immigrant families
Btw - families are not broken up when some gets deported for breaking the law. The family is welcome to ALL leave the USA
How many of these are illegal?
Obamacare ended my original health insurance plan in 2013, and forced me to buy insurance on NY State’s Exchange. I had to go on the exchange again in 2014 when one of the famous Obamacare “coops” went bust here in NY State.
I believe I am one of the “14 million” counted by the hyper-political “analysts” as being covered under Obamacare, even though its been a disaster for me and my family.
That is true. But without all the bells and whistles (e.g. gender reassignment surgery, gynecological care for men, etc) on the only plan available in a state the prices will drop. So a person that could not afford a bronze plan under Obamacare will be able to afford a much more modestly priced plan that does not have the bells and whistles. But the CBO will ignore this fact as the world is static and never changes. And people’s purchasing choices are completely unaffected by changes in the marketplace.
Expert, that’s for sure.
As soon as catastrophe-only policies with high deductibles are allowed, I'd wager a lot of the uninsured will choose that. That's what insurance was before HMOs came to be.
Pre-existing conditions? How about the OPTION of a government run clinic-style option for only those conditions too expensive to insure, and only when people had the disease? That way, the government would be incentivized to find the least expensive solutions and the pharmaceutical and insurance companies wouldn't have profit or loss from them. Everything except the condition, the person would be responsible for their choices.
The whole idea of insurance covering things which have already happened (like pre-existing conditions) or has to happen (like doctor's visits and vaccines) is insane. The purpose of insurance is to protect one against unexpected and expensive things that might happen.
Of course the media is going to focus on the millions who will not get free or heavily subsidized health insurance at taxpayer expense. The media will do everything possible to protect Obamacare.
I’m guessing you haven’t shopped for health insurance lately. Only folks with no or very little income are getting free health care under medicaid/Obamacare even with subsidies. The dirty little secret of Obamacare is the useless policies insurers are offering. $5,000 in premiums with a $5,000 deductible are common. I see little indictation that will change under Ryan-Trumpcare should it pass.
Spicer explained this well. Having a piece of paper doesn't mean they have health care. Have they tried to use it? No? Then they don't know if they have any health care coverage or not.
If no doctor or clinic will treat them, they don't have health care.
If the piece of paper doesn't cover some of the cost of the health care, then they don't have health care coverage.
6 days ago it was 6 million, then 10 million now 14 million then 24 million.
They are pulling out all the stops...AP\Rooters
Stupid congress will buy this tripe.
They should change their name to “The House of cowardly Lemmings”.

THE DISHONEST MEDIA STRIKES AGAIN
I guess the real question is who can actually afford Obamacare right now? Those are the ones who will drop it like a sack of dirt once they are free to do so.
Let’s first of all take the bold step of getting the nation’s employers OUT of the insurance business.
This whole racket began when SOME employers offered employees insurance as a perk or in lieu of a pay raise.
Employees of companies that did not offer insurance got jealous and demanded THEIR employers offer coverage.
This has evolved into the crazy convoluted system we have now.
Employers should be under NO obligation to offer their workers anything but a wage based upon their work. If the worker wants to apply part of that wage toward insurance, that is their business.
If we want to get this country moving again, getting the government off the backs of employers is Job One. And ending federal mandates on employers to provide insurance is a good place to get that job rolling.
