Nobody needs Insurance for anything except for a major medical Catastrophe like a Heart Attack or Cancer. Yhis is the biggest problem, there is no longer a Doctor Customer relationship. Everyone should PAY out of their Own Pocket to go see the doctor and for most medical necessities.

When you start Paying for your own Health Care, you will find out how CHEAP it really is. I make deals with my Doctor.

Yes my Major Medical plan was cancelled due to Obamacare because it didn’t cover:
Gender Reassignment
Pre Natal care for couples in their 50’s
Abortion on demand for couples in their 50’s.

Yup - they don’t lose coverage they elect not to buy it. Premiums and deficits go down.

BUT - if the Insurance exchanges crater under Obama care as insurers leave does everybody lose insurance unless provided by employer?

The reports will be misleading on this.

News media and the Left always play the OMG factor, People uninsured, breaking up immigrant families

Btw - families are not broken up when some gets deported for breaking the law. The family is welcome to ALL leave the USA

translation: millions will CHOOSE to not have insurance when they are not being FORCED

As soon as catastrophe-only policies with high deductibles are allowed, I'd wager a lot of the uninsured will choose that. That's what insurance was before HMOs came to be.

Pre-existing conditions? How about the OPTION of a government run clinic-style option for only those conditions too expensive to insure, and only when people had the disease? That way, the government would be incentivized to find the least expensive solutions and the pharmaceutical and insurance companies wouldn't have profit or loss from them. Everything except the condition, the person would be responsible for their choices.

The whole idea of insurance covering things which have already happened (like pre-existing conditions) or has to happen (like doctor's visits and vaccines) is insane. The purpose of insurance is to protect one against unexpected and expensive things that might happen.

I guess the real question is who can actually afford Obamacare right now? Those are the ones who will drop it like a sack of dirt once they are free to do so.

Well the question should be will they still be able to purchase insurance coverage? Will it be based on their health care needs? Does lack of insurance coverage always = no health care access?

Millions lost less expensive private coverage when Obamcare became the law, and because Obamacare mandated benefits increased premiums so much many people, millions, moved to being uninsured (cause their employers could not afford the plans they were mandated to carry, or to enhanced Medicaid if their income was lower enough under the new higher-income cut-offs for Medicaid.

Under Obamacare, the net change to the “insured” was positive as to the numbers covered by Medicaid and negative as to the numbers of those covered by private insurance.
