Researchers have discovered a new cave in Israel that they say once held Dead Sea Scrolls, making it just the 12th such cave of its kind found. The find is thus a milestone, according to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The cave was looted long before the archeologists excavated it, but inside they found telltale signs that scrolls had been there: broken storage jars and lids on its edges and in a tunnel in the back.

Don’t know if this is worthy of your ping list, but just in case...
Either way it is sure to get the PA all up in arms, literally :-)
Very cool, but I sure wish the documents were still here.
Fantastic!
Here is the article I should have posted. Great information. Looks like Oren Gutfeld and Randall Price are part of the archeologists on the team.
Imagine their suprise when they discovered a NYTimes from 1920 in there too.
I can see the CNN translation:
“...and whereforth shall emerge a big man with orange hair, who delights his followers by sending white birds off to sing his message, rather than passing it on to the tribal elders to disseminate amongst the unwashed masses...”

Coincidentally, I just finished Randall Price’s book, “Secrets of the Dead Sea Scrolls.” A whole chapter is devoted to whether or not thereof are anymore undiscovered scrolls. Exciting news!
Skip the 13th cave as it contains Pandora’s box!
I haven’t read that book, but caught him on Jewish Voice talking about things. I’ll head over to Amazon. Thanks!
Or the tent and ark if they don’t find it here: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3522652/posts
Why, did they find some old birdcages in there?

Excerpt from this article to prove you are right.
“3. Israel has properly cared for these priceless artifacts.
The last time we were in Israel, our friend and fellow Bible scholar, Adlfo Roitman, curator of the Shrine of the Book, gave us a behind-the-scenes-tour of the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit. What we can divulge is that in the event of a nuclear holocaust, the Dead Sea Scrolls in their collection would survive, so advanced is their security technology and infrastructure.
By way of example and comparison, observe what is happening to historic artifacts elsewhere in the Middle East, where they are looted and in many cases destroyed. According to Business Insider, the Islamic State has made more than $200 million dollars selling artifacts on the black market.
It is our hope that scholars, archeologists and popular media are recognize what we already understand, that the scrolls belong to Israel.”

Thank you. Interesting read. I like the tie-in to the Israeli ownership. Good call.
LOL
Why were the scrolls originally hidden in those caves? What was happening at that time that the needed to be hidden.
Any scholars on this subject please reply. Just curious.
“He halted a Syrian invasion for a few days, but then the elders intervened and saying “naughty, naughty!” to him, welcomed the invaders in. Looting and pillaging went on for years.
