WASHINGTON (AP) On the night in 2008 when Barack Obama was elected the country's first black president, many black Americans wept. Eight years later, they weep again for the end of an era some thought they would never live to see and for the uncertain future they face without him.
In Obama, many African-Americans felt they had a leader who celebrated their culture and confronted their concerns. In his wife, Michelle, they saw a national role model who epitomized style and grace with brown skin.

Only SOME black Americans weep. Others have seen the light and have left the plantation. I was so happy during the campaign to see fellow blacks from all walks of life coming over to Trump.
The internet is a wonderful thing - the mainstream media can say what it wants, but regular people, regular black and Hispanic people, were making videos and talking about Trump. If I may bring in race for a moment, to heck with a bunch of white elitists telling blacks how they should feel and think.
“....with brown skin.”
Seems the AP wants to make her a mexican.
Blacks are worse off today than they have been in 50 years.
Their ability to earn a decent living has been decimated.
Many of their families have been destroyed by Obama/Democrat policies.
Their children have a better chance of winding up in prison than in a top level job.
It’s so bad, that if a child is applying themself, they stand a chance of being labeled an Uncle Tom and killed for it.
Their children are by far more likely to live without a father.
Black Lives Matters has become their movement. Race relations are worse now than any time since the 1960s.
Black youth are shooting their Black brothers and sisters at a rate higher than ever, even in places where guns are outlawed.
Riots break out now whenever reasoned laws are applied when a Black is involved.
Frankly, it disgusts me to see what has been done to them, and what they have opted to do to themselves.
Then along comes AP and acts as if anything could be worse than what the situation is now in Black neighborhoods.
Black neighborhoods are now Trump’s fault.
Obama will never have to accept responsibility for what he has done.
That is what many Black youth see a role model, much to the delight of AP.
Black communities in American have become “Potter’s” communities in America.
Barrymore’s character in “It’s a Wonderful Life” would be so proud.
And yet when Donald Trump does the same thing for white America (and a sizable chunk of non-white America, judging by his support in minority communities), he is called a racist and a bigot.

weeping at all the hell Obama put them through?
Well they keep reporting on the stupid ones.....
Trump wants my Obamma phone..ahhhh nooooo
Maybe they can send each other comforting text messages from their Obamaphones.
Yes, his whole 8 year legacy explained.
I remember hearing in 2008, “We’s in charge now.”
Not all of them. Just the BLIVs (Black Low Info Voters), the BLMs (Black Leftist Mobs - which DON'T matter), and the Translaves (Black Americans who were born free but identify as being slaves).
True, those make up a significant part of the black population, but hopefully that won't be the case in four years.
There are no “Black Americans”.
There are Americans of African Descent.
Six-year-old Darnell looked up at his mother with large, frightened eyes. He asked, "Mama, what does it mean? Will we have to be slaves again?" His mother gave him an encouraging pat on the shoulder, but her expression was worried. "I don't know, son," she replied quietly. "I just don't know."
Funny how the concerns of MOST Americans were invisible to the press these last 8 yrs.
YOU ARE NO LONGER BLACKS.
YOU ARE NOW ALL AMERICANS, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
SO IF YOU ARE A DEMOCRAT, YOU HAVE A LOT TO LIVE UP TO. GET USED TO IT.
Hideous wench.
Obama squandered a great opportunity and as a result of his bumbling and overt racism he has set race relations back decades.
