California gained an embassy in Russia last weekend, at least in the eyes of those who have promised to seek a statewide vote on secession, nicknamed "Calexit," in 2018.
Louis Marinelli, a San Diego resident who is the leader of the group promoting an effort to turn the state into an independent country , organized the Moscow event that was publicized on social media.
"We want to start laying the groundwork for a dialogue about an independent California joining the United Nations now," he said in an email Monday.

In the case of california, it should be something fervently hoped for and supported. Get those morons the hell out of our national life.
I agree in sentiment with these dipwads’ desires. I wish them luck. It would mean that the Democrat popular vote myth would be gone forever.
On an aside, I don’t believe that an agreement freely entered into as part of a Union of States should offer no reason to discontinue the agreement. I actually don’t believe that the US Government has that kind of power over that of a State. It wasn’t ‘constitutionally defined’ back in 1860 nor do I believe it should be now.
Yes, in Moscow seems appropriate.
Let’s not forget Beijing, fellas.
And Havana.
You’re dreaming. I’m having nightmares...I’m having a sinking feeling in my stomach that a great mistake has been made. The tweets over China, the pushing of every policy to the limit...I sure hope we know what we’re doing
“I live in the heart of liberal lunacy here in LA county and I hate these bastards with a passion.”
I am with you and I live up in Contra Costa County. We should have tried and executed Moonbeam back during his first two admins, back when he was knocking boots with Linda Rondstadt. At least he never had and children. It saddens me for what has happened to Southern CA. A beautiful place that’s been turned into a cesspool thanks to illegal immigration. Now, even Orange County is no longer conservative. Ditto for San Diego. When I’ve gone there in recent years, I felt like I was in a foreign country.
“Maybe for the sake of safety, one of Trumps walls should wall off Crazyfornia from the rest of the U.S. lest we catch whatever they have!”
Now that’s rich! You folks in the Northeast were “the breeders” for the $hit that infected California and yet you have the temerity to suggest that you need to be “protected” from catching what we have. Just where the F_ck do you think Pelosey and Box of $hit came from? Nazi Pelousey is the daughter of one of the former corrupt mayors of Baltimore who had to give up his run for that state’s governor due to his being tried for corruption. And “closer to home” Mr. EinNYC, Babs Boxer is one of your home grown POS from good old Brooklyn. California would be once again the #1 state in the nation if we could deport this trash that YOU SENT US a half century ago. So STFU!
It's not the Jefferson movement was secession from CA,” it's the Jefferson movement IS secession from CA. It's serious endeavor and it is ongoing as this is being written. A half dozen or more Northern California counties have had their county boards of supervisors approve putting the matter of their forming a new state out of their parts of California to a vote. The idea that America would turn it's back on 20 million or more of it's citizens being forced to live in an “independent California” turns my stomach along with you obsequious a$$holes here on FR ( yeah you, you “freedom-loving pr!cks” with the big mouths) who spout off about how “wonderful” it would be to see California leave the union. Eff all of you, you are all sorry examples of “conservatism.” With FRiends like you, we don't need any more enemies. And furthermore, just where do you think FR is headquartered? Last time I was there, Fresno was still in California's Central Valley. You all make me sick!!
It'd be quite entertaining indeed. Further, the State of Jefferson would become a reality by severing itself from CA and remain with the union. That'd be more than a slight problem for the liberal secessionists down south, since much of their water source resides with the northern lakes.
I’d help him move if Fresno didn’t join Jefferson, but that’s about it. :P
That thought had occurred to me as well. :D
Doesn’t have to be all or nothing - just make it one of the requirements of secession, just as when Czechoslovakia split up. They don’t want them anyway, the coastals hate the inland counties.
It is easy. California as a state is in open rebellion against Federal Immigration laws. Obama did nothing about it. And Trump can do it.
And take your &500 billion in unsecured state debt with you!
On the other hand, for the good of the Republic, purge California.
The good guys can fight the bad guys and demand reinstatement of the red zones
Actually this sounds like a good idea...then we could keep these bat shit crazy lunatics out of our country....And when you build the Wall President Trump build it up the Eastern border of California.
Just think how great it would be to be able to deport them back to their liberal paradise.
In Actuality though, I think California would have to build a Berlin type wall to keep them in.......they would all be trying to escape the liberal shithole....in time
On those comparative maps, California can be further narrowed down to that hyper-liberal 50-mile-wide coastal corridor from the Marin County down to L.A. county. That’s Clown Posse Central for Cali. separate that portion from the state and what remains is a right-of-center state more in line with the political orientation of the country at large.
I was at an old Russian fort in the Russian River valley this summer. I foolishly live here north of la . I wonder what we will do for water. Can’t we first deport the illegals to see if we can make some progress toward turning California red. I hate moving.
