Hillary Clinton Sets 104-Year Record for Faithless Electors [and more humiliating than that]
People's Pundit Daily ^ | December 19, 2016 | Richard D. Baris

The Electoral College dealt Big Media and Democrat Hillary Clinton one more final embarrassment. With nearly all the Electoral College votes cast, the former secretary of state set a 104-year record for the candidate with the most faithless electors. If you fell for the Big Media hysteria, then you might be surprised to hear faithless electors are actually pretty common.

(UPDATE: Since this article was first written, Mrs. Clinton got another faithless elector in the state of Hawaii. Her total now stands at 5.)

Yes, Hillary lost more pledged electoral votes than any presidential candidate since 1872! In the 1872 Presidential election, the combined Democrat/Liberal Republican candidate, Horace Greeley, won in Texas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Maryland, giving him 66 electoral votes.

However 63 of those Greeley electors switched their votes from Greeley to four non-candidates. Of course, those 63 electors could hardly be called "faithless" since Greeley had died 24 days after the election before any electors had met. In approving the electoral college reelection of Republican Ulysses S. Grant, the House did not count the three electoral votes for the deceased Greeley.

But, if one is to consider only electoral votes pledged to living presidential candidates, one has to go back (over two centuries ago!!) to the 1808 Presidential election where six electors from New York, who were pledged to vote for Democratic-Republican candidate James Madison to be President, voted instead for Madison's Vice-Presidential candidate, ironically named George Clinton.

Hillary almost had 8 faithless electors: An elector in Maine tried to vote for Bernie, but was forced to change his vote to Clinton. An elector in Minnesota and an elector in Colorado both also tried to vote for some other person, but were replaced under electoral procedure by electors who cast votes for Clinton.

Odd, no mention of this in the MSM. In fact, they’re not even talking about Russian hacking anymore.

For Hillary, being faithless comes with the territory.

A Great big thank you to:

Martin Sheen, Debra Messing, James Cromwell, BD Wong, Noah Wyle, Freda Payne, Bob Odenkirk, J. Smith Cameron, Michael Urie, Moby, Mike Farrell, Loretta Swit, Richard Schiff, Christine Lahti, Steven Pasquale, Dominic Fumusa, Emily Tyra, and Talia Balsam

for inspiring these electors to vote their conscience and vote for someone other than Hilliary. Biggest loser in the history of the Republic.

Great job losers.

Ah, the Z list. Amazing the number of names I don’t recognize.

I take considerable pride in that and wanted to share.

This problem needs to be fixed before there is a close election where it matters. Bush would have lost with 2 faithless electors. The elector voting as his state law commands is a ministerial act, like the issuance of a permit if a form is filled out. It does NOT involve any discretion by the electors. The laws of all 50 states need to ensure that this is the case.

I like how Maine did it, where they told the electors NO you can't do that, and they were forced to vote for Hillary instead of Bernie. That, or a rule that if they vote incorrectly, they are replaced and the correct vote is made. The Constitution vests states with complete discretion over how the electors are chosen and procedures of their voting. Time to fix it.

Given what is proven her and DNC did to thwart Bernie, I’m surprised there were not more defectors form the Clinton plantation.

Democrats don’t really care about the Hillary defectors, because the point was to try to create a belief in electors from Republican states that they actually had the right to vote however they wanted. Democrats want to take down the Electoral College as an institution and just have popular vote govern. Hillary doesn’t care about losing 4 electors. Had she won, that would be a different matter. She would have had them shot.

Good column by my friend Baris. He was one of the Deplorable Gurus working data with me on election day and is a key part of my new book “How Trump Won” due out Jan 18.

In total, there have been 157 faithless electors since the founding of the Electoral College, of which 71 were the result of the candidate dying before the day electors cast their votes. Only 3 electors abstained rather than vote for their party’s nominee and 83 electoral votes were changed based on the elector’s personal choice.

Interesting!

Not just a 104 year record, but the guy that did worse than Hillary with Electors was dead. So Hillary is really the “best” at faithless electors for living Presidential candidates. She’s the best worst!
