This opinion piece is by the Rev. Ruth Everhart, a pastor and the author of two spiritual memoirs.
Church culture tends to be fixated on sexual purity year-round, but during Advent, I'm tempted to blame it on the Virgin Mary. After all, she set an impossibly high bar. Now the rest of us are stuck trying to be both a virgin and a mother at the same time. It does not seem to matter that this is biologically impossible. Can you at least try?

Author places her repressed issues to attack Mary.
Lesbian
Another reason not to ordain women.
bitter
repressed anger directed at the Mother of God
doing the devils work
and why was this posted?
Almost incoherent. And I think the Reverend needs some serious mental health counseling.
Liberalism is a mental disease.
Mary said yes. Nobody 'did anything to her body' against her will. She wasn't forced to do anything: rather, she joyfully cooperated with and accepted her Creator.
"Let it be done to me according to thy will."
I see women who were raped, but never willingly gave themselves, as virgins.
Whatever happened to them is a violent crime.
Fiat voluntas tua.
Presbyterian.
Indeed. Poor thing.
Agree 100%.
Most Holy Theotokos save us!!!!

So from this are folks supposed to adopt the following?
1. Nobody should talk about healthy marriages, since some folks aren’t married.
2. Nobody should talk about children, because some folks have lost children.
3. Nobody should praise anyone for winning, because so many came in second or worse.
4. Some folks couldn’t afford to buy gifts this year, so don’t talk about the ones you bought or received.
5. Some folks don’t have jobs. Don’t express your appreciation of having a job in public.
6. You can’t have children, so nobody should be allowed to talk about their children.
7. Some folks aren’t financially solvent, so don’t talk about being thankful for your financial position.
8. You’ve never held a management position, so nobody should discuss being or having been a leader.
9. You’re a female, so men shouldn’t talk about their joy of being a healthy male.
The list is almost endless...
My sympathies go out to any woman who has been raped. IMO, forever changing all of society based on that attack, is misguided.
This lady is the exact reason the Bible requires women to be silent in church and not be in leadership
I know I shouldn’t have clicked on this, not being Christian, but what happened to Mary’s body against her will? I thought that she became holy because she carried Jesus. Is this woman saying Gd raped her? Again, I don’t belong here but just find this woman’s take ridiculous in theology.
This article is ridiculous. However, this is just ANOTHER attack against Christianity in our culture
