The Minnesota football team has announced a boycott of football following the suspension of 10 Gophers after a sexual assault investigation by the school.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, players threatened to boycott the Dec. 27 Holiday Bowl against Washington State in protest of the 10 players being suspended. The team held a players-only meeting and later brought in head coach Tracy Claeys, informing him of their plans. Afterward, they announced the football boycott to reporters.
Does this institution have a code of conduct? Did the athletes, as students, agree to abide by the code of conduct? If so, does participating in (leaving consent issues aside for the moment) a videotaped, alcohol-fueled gang-bang violate the code of conduct? If so, case closed.

It was closed by the DA for lack of evidence. Unfortunately, you are of the same mindset as college administrators who feel they have the powers of judge, jury and executioner.
Police could have pressed charges if they wanted to do so. They chose not to do that. That was the mistake here.
Some people are reacting and not reading the article. I am glad someone is taking a stand. This is another unfair Duke Lacrosse team situation.

Common sense tells you don’t decide to do a line of football players and then go to a hospital. Chances are they slipped her a roofie and then raped her. She decided not to press charges for whatever reason.
I’m a fraternity adviser and every year I tell them “Even if she was sober and alert when she wants to pull a train, crazy can’t give consent. She will claim rape because she is crazy”.
I can see why the prosecutor dropped the case. But if he team members violated the school’s code of conduct, they deserve everything they’ve got coming on that end.
Render unto Caesar, ok? We are talking criminal, civil, and code of conduct. Those degenerates are off the hook when it comes to the first two. As to the latter, if the team members violated the code of conduct, they should be held to account.

Not an allegation, there’s video evidence. Vague as to whether she was a willing participant, or not.

It’s an allegation until proven in a court of law by proof beyond a reasonable doubt. But since it won’t even go to that extent there’s nothing further here and the players need to be left alone.

If both parties were impaired, why is the guy to blame? If a woman drives drunk does that not count either?
If you go walking through an “inner city” neighborhood counting a wad of $100 bills, don’t be surprised if something bad happens. Saying that doesn’t mean I approve, it means that the probability of you regreting that decision is high.
In the case of drunk college girls, hanging around drunk college guys, there’s an additional factor that the guy (being drunk himself) might misinterpret the girl’s behavior as a signal of consent.
It’s just better policy all around, for girls to just NOT GET DRUNK around guys who they don’t plan on winding up in bed with.
It’s not a case of having “little respect for women” it’s a case of being tired of women who display a complete lack of common sense.
I have no problem holding her to the same standard as the men, for any consensual conduct, if she has an employment contract with a morals clause, or if she signed a code of conduct.
