The admiral who torpedoed Colin Kaepernick? A true badass
Conservative Review ^ | 12/8/16 | Chris Pandolfo

Speaking at the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack on Wednesday, the admiral made pointed remarks at the San Francisco 49ers quarterback whose claim to fame is his decision to kneel through the national anthem in a show of solidarity with Black Lives Matter.

"You can bet that the men and women we honor today, and those who died that fateful morning 75 years ago, never took a knee and never failed to stand whenever they heard our national anthem being played," Harris said. That line brought the crowd roaring to its feet.

“the men and women we honor today, and those who died that fateful morning 75 years ago...” likely didn’t watch much NFL on TV.

It’s a pretty good bet since they really didn’t start telecasting NFL games until the late fifties. Like 58. something like that. And then it was maybe only one game. In those days college ball was much more popular.

ESPN continues to lose subscribers at an alarming rate.

Last summer Disney acknowledged that about six million ESPN subscribers of all ages have cut the cable cord and simple math will tell you losing six million people even at an estimated cost of $6 a subscriber, ESPN has $430 million less annually. There are now estimates that ESPN may have lost as many as 11 million subscribers in the past five years. Meanwhile Time Warner’s TNT has lost about seven percent of its subscribers since 2011. TNT’s cost is about $1.25 a month. Both companies know they have to develop new revenue sources. Rates will rise. Disney has not been able to replace millions of former subscribers with new technologies as of yet and AT&T is bidding to take over Time Warner.

I've watched very little NFL football this year and this is part of it.

Let me say this, I believe Kepernick has a Constitutional right to take a knee, But others, like you and I, also have Constitutional rights and that includes that we don't HAVE to buy tickets to NFL games nor watch them on TV.

Watching rugby, myself. Faster than American football, no dangerous rigid padding, no stopping the game every time the ball touches the ground. Just hard-playing people loving what they do, and having a great time doing it, all in about 80 minutes.

I can remember as a kid going to Redskin games at Griffith Stadium when Slingin’ Sam The Redskin Man was a star quarterback. And in those years the players all acted like grown-up men when big plays were made, not like school children playing sandlot ball. When the grandstanding started, that’s when I stopped being an NFL fan.

These football/basketball players, etc. who won’t stand for the National Anthem don’t deserve to even play.

Finally my rant hit the pages here.

Let me say this, I believe Kepernick has a Constitutional right to take a knee...

Kaepernick has the right to take a knee, but on his own time. The 49ers or NFL could tell him he can't do it. He's a paid employee representative of the 49ers and NFL. His employers have the right to dictate the uniform he wears and his on-the-job behavior. If a player wears a non-conforming shoe, the NFL fines the player thousands of dollars. Yet they do nothing to the players not being respectful of the country. I'm not watching the NFL now.

Agreed and I live near where the Patriots play. I’d rather weed the garden or cut wood usually.

Hooray for the admiral. I enjoyed seeing his comments.

(But do we need a crude headline to talk about this?)

Yep. Rugby is a great game. Much faster and better tackling than NFL "football." No timeouts--except for serious injuries; no huddles; no TV timeouts...The WSJ reported a few years ago that the actual time/action of the average NFL game was 11 minutes.
