Trump has no obligation to hold news conferences

Newt Gingrich on Tuesday said President-elect Donald Trump shouldn't feel any obligation to hold news conferences...

"The news media so totally disgraced itself in this election, if I were Trump I would just say no," Gingrich, a Trump adviser, said during an interview with USA Today's Capital Download. "And if the White House Correspondents' Association doesn't like it, I'd say, 'Fine, disband.'"

On Monday, Trump blasted CNN, saying the network is "so embarrassed" by "their support" of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and has gotten worse since the election.

Gingrich said Trump should continue tweeting, but he should have an "editorial board in-between the first draft and sending it."

"But he shouldn't give it up, and he shouldn't give up being Donald Trump," Gingrich said.

Side Note:

Limbaugh has stated that for all the effort that the "press" has used to destroy him, they cannot, because the media or press did not create him. Limbaugh, for all the problems that he may have put himself through, is his own man. He does not owe the media or press anything and they do not have the power to destroy him...

NOW -- Trump. The same Limbaugh theory applies to Trump. They did everything they could to destroy him, yet he continued to grow because he by-passed the press and went straight to the people...yes, We, the People. The press, as much as they would like to, cannot destroy Trump because they had nothing to do with his rise to the White House.

Peace Be Unto You.

Thank you Newt....Trump kept his intentions close to his vest in his interview with Stahl. She kinda made an a** of herself.

There’s also no obligation to coddle the press and give them access to the WH grounds..............

Trump should do press conferences but the press he needs to allow into the White House should be the so-called new media and not the lamestream liberals.

Breitbart should have a White House reporter. Maybe Drudge and Daily Caller, too. The Washington Examiner, and maybe Fox Business. And OAN.

But whatever he does he should absolutely prohibit the NYT from reporting inside the White House. He needs to do his part to push them into the ash heap of history where they belong.

Agree 1000%.

Actually, I think it would be kind of funny for Trump to invite various High School journalism students to the WH semi-regularly to hold make-believe press confs with the idea that “it’s time to develop a new crop of people in this profession”.

How many press conferences did Obama hold over the last 8 years?

Very few and the press never once complained.

Its their precedent and Trump isn’t interested in helping them in the ratings/circulation department.

Their loss.

The madness continues. First the dems join the recount effort after blasting trump for not accepting the results blindly ahead of time. Now after blasting Clinton for a year for not having a press conference, we say we don’t have to have them. My head is spinning safety than DU.

Here’s an idea. All the liars and those like WashPo who hired 23 people to dump on trump, deny them WH credentials and let online and other publications in. Result open press conference with media which will give more objective coverage and not set out to undermine and make up stories. Start with the LA and NY Times and Who and CNN.

The press had no issue with Hillary refusing to hold press conferences or unscripted public appearances for almost a year. So obviously, they won’t care if Trump does the same, right?

Cankles didn’t hold a press conference during the campaign for how long? They meekly held their collective tongues about that!

Exactly! They behave as if it’s written into the Constitution. This would be a good time to redefine what degree of WH press access is really needed, and how much is “But we’ve always had these things done for us!” Boo f’ing hoo.

Newt is right. Trump should have learned his lesson, if not from the election then certainly from the 60 Minutes interview.

Put everything on YouTube.

I'm surprised Trump hasn't done this already. It would infuriate the lamestream media if he brought people like Matt Drudge, Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs and some alternative media into a room and did a press conference just for them.

Shut the lamestream media out entirely. They are against him anyway and have already determined what they will write.

yes...Trump can hold a press conference with DRUDGE....

he can also invite small-medium sized newspapers...like from fly-over country newspapers.

I have long wondered why the press should have offices in the White House. Why should they feel entitled to ride on Air Force One? What obligation does any president have toward them? They’re not government. They are private enterprise, a business.

As I’ve said before, Trump should make them stand out in the rain and cold just like their predecessors did long ago................maybe give them a porta potty out back............

No. Let them soil themselves. They already have soiled their “profession”.
