Subject: Contact Information

John,

If you or anyone needs to contact me or talk with me privately during business hours, you can reach me through my personal e-mail at r_m_gates@att.net (there is an underscore -- r_m_ -- after the r and m in place of a period. I offer that because you indicated you had tried unsuccessfully to reach me by e-mail: the underscores in the address may not have come through in my initial e-mail to you. Only I have access to this account and I check it every hour or so during the workday, and so can get back fairly promptly -- just give me the number to call.

Bob Gates

Checking private email accounts during work time is not in and of itself a violation of government rules. What Clinton did that was wrong was use private accounts to conduct government business. You can use government computers for personal business as long as you meet three basic conditions:

1) There is no additional cost to the government. Checking email on an existing computer and internet connection don’t create any additional cost.

2) You are not neglecting your work responsibilities. A few moments to fire off a note to your spouse, friend, bank, etc... is considered ok. A quick purchase online is ok as long as you don’t abuse the privilege and ignore work responsibilities.

3) Never use government systems to conduct profit making business. Trading stocks, selling items on ebay, etc... are strictly prohibited.

So it doesn't bother you at all that the SecDef is sending Hillary's factotum, a private email for use during the day in lieu of official email ?

Did you just eat a bowl of stupid for breakfast this morning? Or are you a CTR troll?

Isn’t Gates the one who likes to sodomize Boy Scouts?

Gates is not on our (America’s) team.

Didn’t he move on to destroy the Boy Scouts after he de-balled the military.

Grampa Dave :" Now we know why Gates did some of his actions to deball our military as an effective fighting force."

And we now know that the Sect. of Defense has an AT&T informal/personal account,
hopefully no classified information was exchanged through AT&T after this email sent .
So much for OPSEC !!

Which is why he promises to check it every hour or so during the working day?

They can exchange recipes for cheese pizza *AFTER* work.

This is worse than Obama or Hillary’s emails because of the weird spelling r_m_gates@att.net. Classified info could’ve been sent to random people such as rmgates@att.net or rm_gates

If you or anyone needs to contact me or talk with me privately during business hours, you can reach me through my personal e-mail...

If you need to back-channel some information that won't get stored forever on those pesky government issued email accounts...

He did use an underscore in his email id. I’m sure that stopped the Russians,Chicoms and Iranians from any cyber attacks.

I am sure a lot of people check their personal correspondence — or FR — during work. I have a friend who’s an assistant AG in another state. When the talk on an email chain with some friends turned political, he warned us to cut it out or else take it to his personal email account. As I said, that’s the way it’s supposed to work.

Exactly. Gates shouldn’t need to contact Podesta during work hours if it’s not business related.

...and see how thoroughly corrupt our MSM is in NOT reporting on the Wikileaks releases!! Like Newt pointed out, had the MSM gave the Wikileaks releases equal coverage to the Trump sex talk tape, Hillary would be down 10 even in their corrupt polls.

Had the Wikileaks releases been about Trump, they would be the lead story every night on the MSM nightly news and above the fold page 1 stories in newspapers.

Clinton had her Senate email or her own in 2008. But even so this comes from Podesta not Clinton and if it is in regard to an offer to stay on it should not be on the SecDef’s DoD email as it involves private political not public business. Gates’ private email is exactly where this should have been sent.
When I taught and dealt with bosses about work I used my nyc.gov email, but if a principal offered me a position as say Dean and wanted my thoughts he would use my private hotmail address, and I would respond to his.
