Ohio Gov. John Kasich wrote in Sen. John McCain for president, the GOPs 2008 nominee, on his absentee ballot this year.
Chris Schrimpf, the governor's political spokesman, confirmed the write-in vote to cleveland.com and said Kasich voted straight-ticket Republican on the rest of his ballot. Schrimpf added that Kasich was comfortable picking McCain, the 2008 GOP nominee for president, over Trump, Democrat Hillary Clinton and Libertarian Gary Johnson, a former Republican on the ballot as a nonpartisan candidate.
The vote essentially is a symbolic gesture. Because McCain is not among the 18 certified write-in candidates in Ohio, Kasich's vote for president will not count.
Kasichs protest of Trump included not showing up at the Republican National Convention, despite being governor of the state it was held in. He also long pledged not to vote for Trump, even though initially he was among four Republican candidates who said they would support the nominee, whoever it ended up being.
The video released of Trumps lewd comments last month was the last straw for Kasich, apparently.
"Donald Trump is a man I cannot and should not support," Kasich said in an Oct. 8 statement. "The actions of the last day are disgusting, but that's not why I reached this decision, it has been an accumulation of his words and actions that many have been warning about. I will not vote for a nominee who has behaved in a manner that reflects so poorly on our country. Our country deserves better."
Just wait until this idiot needs Federal funding....
#NeverGOPe
Kasich is going to join McCain and Graham on a world tour....visiting the other side....
So Kasich wants Clinton the lying felon to be President. I could not despise Kasich more.
Kasich claims to be such a loving and forgiving Christian who is highly ethical. Then he carries on like a little baby by not attending the convention in his own state and helps the most corrupt woman get elected President.
Maybe it’s time he forgives Trump for hurting his feelings and saying mean things.
What an a**.
Kasich is the sort of person, who probably things that the reason McCain did as well as he did, was because people liked him.
No. People liked his running mate.
That was a very good choice, Mr. McCain. But everything else you stand for, and have done, is exactly what we do not need more of.
You lost. Lost.
So much for his pledge to support the Republican candidate. Kasich is a crooked liar.
Wait till Arizonans return the favor and write John Kaisch in for Arizona Senate instead of McCain
No, he’s just one of those so-called conservative elites that lied their ass off to us in the 1990s.
They’re just telling the truth of what they are now. Backstabbing feather-bedding, trolls interested only in themselves, more power, and being a lying frigging hypocrite that only comes out for the Kabuki Play every 2, 4, and 6 years.
He’s just decided to go full-boat turncoat; the rest of them are disguised now as “principled conservatives” and “neverTrumpers.
Wait till Arizonans return the favor and write John Kaisch in for Arizona Senate instead of McCain
He might as well just pissed on his ballot and threw it in the trash.
I’ll bet in a couple days there will be one hell of a bargain on fireworks on Craigslist in NYC.
Paul Ryan just said on F&F this morning HE voted for Trump.
Kasich is going to find out what a branch of a tree and a chainsaw mean . . .
He COULD take advantage of this and put out his own line of pacifiers . . .
Why not go full bore crazy and cast a vote for Abe Lincoln?
