Washington (CNN)ISIS is suspected of firing a shell with mustard agent that landed at the Qayyara air base in Iraq Tuesday where US and Iraqi troops are operating, according to several US officials.
The shell was categorized by officials as either a rocket or artillery shell. After it landed on the base, just south of Mosul, US troops tested it and received an initial reading for a chemical agent they believe is mustard.
No US troops were hurt or have displayed symptoms of exposure to mustard agent.
One official said the agent had "low purity" and was "poorly weaponized." A second official called it "ineffective."
A US defense official said troops had gone out to look at the ordnance after it landed. Based on seeing what they thought was a suspect substance, two field tests were conducted.
The first test was positive and the second was negative, the official said. The substance is now being sent to a lab for further examination.
US troops involved in the incident went through decontamination showers as a precaution. No troops have shown any symptoms of exposure, such as skin blistering. CNN has reported on previous instances where ISIS has fired rounds with mustard agents in Iraq and Syria.
The officials said they "had expected" that ISIS might try use chemical weapons as US and Iraqi forces push towards Mosul in an effort to take the city back from ISIS. Several hundred US troops are using the base as a staging area for supporting Iraqi forces.

I think it was de Blasio, yesterday or the day before, who said something to the effect that we have to live with this now. It’s the “new reality...”
Doesn’t have to be. And it should not.
Trump just gained some new voters after this.
If direct contact and inhalation, 10 min max. Bad stuff.

“Uhh, mustard is not a problem, and is great on hamburgers, hot dogs and used when grilling chicken.
Mustard GAS, OTOH...........
Great job CNN - great staff youve got there. No wonder they cant find anything wrong with Obama”

Exactly.
And, par for the course, CNN has now reverted to discussing racial issues.
I think they also hold some responsibility for the racial tension. That’s all they cover.
Mustard gas on our troops? A few minutes (I am guessing) of coverage.
Racial tension? Bring out the panel to discuss at length!
I turned on CNN when I saw this post; again, back to race and Trump-bashing.
However, there was one awesome African-American woman on today this afternoon, from a pro-Trump organization in Chicago (my hometown) .... she held her own. Wish I could remember her name.
“I remember seeing a video of Iraqi trucks moving the stuff to Syria before out attack. So Im sure its available in either country.”

I remember that distinctly as well.
We (perhaps because the UN required it?) gave a heads up...
Things have just gotten real scary. For decades it has been US policy that chemical and biological weapons are weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and the US will reply in kind when WMDs are used against us or our allies.
The problem is the US maintains stockpiles of only one type of WMD - nuclear.
So, what happens when (not if) the Islamic Terrorists conduct a successful wMD attack against us and we end up with several hundred KIA and more wIA?
We have already established that WMD's are modern nuclear warheads aimed at Brussels. Anything less, or aimed elsewhere, does not constitute a WMD. :)
When the islamic jihadists can pull off a WMD attack in the U.S.A., they will.
My guess is the first will be gas and/or bio. It’s the easiest for them to pull off.
Good thing this is a war of narratives.

Nobody believes in it. Youre like, **** this, a former Green Beret says of Americas covert and clandestine programs to train and arm Syrian militias. Everyone on the ground knows they are jihadis. No one on the ground believes in this mission or this effort, and they know they are just training the next generation of jihadis, so they are sabotaging it by saying, **** it, who cares?
I dont want to be responsible for Nusra guys saying they were trained by Americans, the Green Beret added. A second Special Forces soldier commented that one Syrian militia they had trained recently crossed the border from Jordan on what had been pitched as a large-scale shaping operation that would change the course of the war. Watching the battle on a monitor while a drone flew overhead, We literally watched them, with 30 guys in their force, run away from three or four ISIS guys.

The Russians have been saying this pretty much all along but of course being Russian they have zero credibility with those raised on a MSM forced diet. I wonder if you’ll be able to get said MSM to publish this article? Rick V
Very well done Jack. Thank you. George E. Hand IV
“CIA-backed FSA elements will openly become al-Nusra, while Special Forces-backed FSA elements like the New Syrian Army will fight alongside the Assad regime. Then the CIAs militia and the Special Forces militia will kill each other.” That excerpt from the essay says it all for me. Geo sends

Barbara Starr, military expert ad stupidity.
A Rocket and a shell are two different weapons, so a rocket shell doesn’t really exist. It is a rocket warhead.
Ask my son who got a couple biggies fired at him in Iraq. They were NOT shells.
Now that right there is just damned funny.
The public deserves to know the full nature of Hillary’s relationship with Huma; if they’ve had a sexual affair it compromises her and opens the door to being blackmailed. Considering Huma’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and radical Islam, it is a very compromising position to be in.
I’d start with B-2’s dropping J-DAM’s on all arteries out of town, while at the same time dropping leaflets in the cites warning them to evacuate.
Once the roads are clogged, I then start the next wave with B-1’s carpet bombing the highway’s and easements, followed by B-52’s using the 500 pound-ers on the electrical, hydro, and communication targets first, then finish off the operation with 24 hours of termite droppings downwind.
Analyze. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
NOTE: This scenario is suggested only in the event on plans to occupy later. If not, well, half a full salvo from a Trident sub (somewhere in the Persian Gulf) on multiple targets would be (as we say) a more appropriate answer to 9/11 and all other acts that followed. After all, due to the sequester, we need to cut costs.

I agree.
Funny, the media is worried about climate change as a security risk.
Let’s see what’s worse, carbon dioxide or mustard gas? Hmmm.
Yes!
