Not in My Name, NeverTrumpers
American Thinker ^ | August 10, 2016 | Robert Oscar Lopez

Posted on 08/10/2016 12:09:16 PM PDT by Kaslin

Many of my close friends in the conservative movement are NeverTrumpers. As a result, I find myself in an awkward position. The NeverTrumpers are appealing to their conservative friends based on emotional claims that I recognize as false, deluded, and selfish. One friend said, "Who wins the election does not matter as much as the need to vote one's conscience." This statement is stunningly prideful and childish. The voting booth is not a ride at Six Flags, and elections are not part of a consumer experiences. The White House is not Burger King, where you get things your way.

Of course who wins the election is more important than your precious conscience or how you feel about voting. Your country matters more than you do. Has America become so weak and self-absorbed that people no longer understand what it means to say, "It's not all about you, honey"?

I guess that's why I could never be a libertarian.

Part of the impasse between me and NeverTrumper friends is that they have never actually sat down and listened to the full horrors that I endured firsthand, which make it undeniable to me that this election is about stopping Hillary Clinton and saving America. Some games are won by offense, and others are won by defense; elections follow that pattern. We have to vote against things sometimes.

We are not electing a priest. We are electing a warrior. Trump is the best warrior available. He can mostly be trusted. Mostly is good enough for me.

If “voting your conscience” is so important .. I don’t see how the “nevertrump” people can use that as an excuse .. because .. they obviously did not let their conscience be their guide when they allowed Obama (over the almost 8 years) to succeed on just about anything he wanted.

And .. the things they allowed Obama to have - WERE THE THINGS WHICH HURT THE PEOPLE THE MOST.

That’s why we aren’t willing to play their games anymore.

They voted for GHW Bush, Dole, Dubya, McCain, and Romney with a clear conscience, didn’t they? That’s about a quarter century run of underachievement.

Preserving one’s political and/or religious self-righteousness is far more important to some people than actually having to make hard or unpleasant decisions.

I’m quite alarmed. Another Northeastern democrat in Republican sheeps clothing isn’t voting for Trump. Yawn.

I don't mind people voting their conscience - that's fine. I advocate and practice personal independence.

And in that vein, the vocal NeverTrumpers really torque me off, because they are trying to tell other people what to do, and they are delivering this point in a most condescending and superior style. Screw them. I make a point of shunning them.

Didn't prefer Jeb but had an infinitely better chance than Trump.

You wanted an unhinged game show host with no filter, and you got one. Now you'll pay the price (er, we all will).

Michael Medved, who is 100% in the tank for our treasonous quisling incumbent RINOs, just made this gob-smackingly ludicrous declaration on his radio show:

"I do not know a single politician who is for illegal immigration."

Really!? Is this man serious? Or is he just an idiot? Where has he been for he last 20 years?

Medved, like so many other conservative commentators and bloggers who were once trusted, has exposed himself as nothing more than a useful idiot for the political elite establishment. Medved, like his NeverTrump GOPe bedmates, would rather see American burn under Hillary than see it prosper under a man he despises.

The heart of the NeverTrump crowd is the Globalist cabal who don't give a damn about this country and anyone who sides with such folks doesn't care about this country any more than Soros and the whole Globalist crowd do.

Anyone who doesn't resist putting Hillary and her crowd in power with their individual vote is behaving exactly like Pontius Pilot who allowed great evil by pretending he could simply wash his hands to be held harmless when Roman soldiers carried out the will of the mob who crucified Christ.

>>>This is a fair deal, and basically the one I’m going with. I do however expect that when/if Ted Cruz wins his primary, that the over the top anti-Ted freepers will honor the same deal.<<<

So, you expect the Trump Supporters to do for Ted Cruz what Ted Cruz wouldn’t do for Trump?

IF I lived in Texas I would Vote for Cruz against any Democrat in the General, but I think Cruz may have a harder time than necessary in the Primary because of his refusal to support the Republican Nominee for President.

...do nothing, promise the moon, and line their own pockets.

You should study Trump's business career; that's it defined.

I was not an Anti-Cruzer, and in fact voted for him in the Texas Primary. Going back further, I was ecstatic that Cruz defeated David Dewhurst to win the senate seat. However, the only way he gets my vote again is if Trump wins the presidency and Cruz is the Republican nominee. If Cruz is primaried, I will vote for his opponent. Cruz's stunt at the RNC has soured me on him forever. If Trump loses, I will hold Ted "Vote your consience" Cruz at least partly responsible.

If Hillary wins (thanks, Ted!), it's GAME OVER and it won't matter who is elected to the senate.

” Didn’t prefer Jeb but had an infinitely better chance than Trump. “

Right....that’s why he did SO well, with all those MILLIONS of $$ he spent in the primary....

Where have you been??

He did nothing except promise the moon as a businessman?

And lining your pockets as a private citizen is totally different from lining your pockets while a government official.

I have studied Trump’s business career for many years. He’s one smart dude, not at all like the pantywaist critters running the country now. Obviously, you are a thin skinned know nothing trying to start something with nothing. Your ATTITUDE is unwelcome here.
