Donald Trump on Monday spent part of his July 4th with Sen. Joni Ernst -- fueling speculation that the Iowa freshman senator could be on the short list of his vice presidential picks.
Ernst told Fox News they had a "good conversation," adding, "I will continue to share my insights with Donald about the need to strengthen our economy, keep our nation safe, and ensure America is always a strong, stabilizing force around the globe."
Earlier, Trump tweeted, "I look forward to meeting (Ernst) today in New Jersey. She has done a great job as Senator of Iowa!"

Love Joni. But a first term senator? no.
The problem with her is she is not well known and she hasn’t been VETTED. I.E. the leftists can CREATE a reality about her which does not reflect the facts. Blackburn or the governor of Arizona would be wise choices, but Pence or Gingrich would be better.
i hate pandering to the PC/SJW crowd, but she seems to be a legit candidate for VP even if she wasn’t a chick (sidebar - although, if Biden can be VP and Obama can be POTUS, pretty much anyone is a legit candidate at this point i supposed).
she does tick a couple of useful boxes though.

of course, with the ruthless and fictional attacks on Palin’s character in 2008 and the almost complete absence of the GOPe coming to her defense, i wonder why anyone at this point would put themselves through that.
A hog farmer might sell in Iowa but would be a turnoff in other states. They would nail her for animal cruelty and lit would be relentless.

in fact, he’s been POTUS more than 2x as long as he was a senator.
we (as conservatives) need to realize that the left doesn’t play by the rules we hold ourselves to, so we have to drop some of those rules when they hurt us.

iowa is a light blue state so this might be just the ticket that trump needs...
I like her! Good fit for Trump. A women veteran that has a penchant for getting under the Dem’s skin. What’s not to like?
They will Palinize her for sure. I think Rand Paul would bring the young crowd in. At this point, whatever it takes to keep the witch out of the WH.
Joni would help the medicine go down for a lot for potential Trump voters. Newt can’t do that.
She’s quite a reasonable choice.
Trump will not be President without a solid majority of white women. A CREDIBLE woman on the ticket will help.
In a close election, Florida, Colorado and Nevada are GONE because of their demographics — Hispanics in all three states, Jews and African Americans in Florida, yuppies in Colorado. Trump has to SWEEP Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia to win. Your statewide Republican choices from those states are limited — Branstad (over 70), Synder (unpopular), Kasich (Trump no like), Portman (RINO, up for re-election), Toomey (up for re-election) ... and Ernst.
I’m talking about the ability to govern well.

What first term Senator with no previous federal experience has been a successful chief executive? Heck, even JFK spent at least some time in the House of Representatives before going to the upper chamber.
the VP position is almost entirely an honorific one. there is no need to have chief executive experience. of course, she does have such experience running a supply organization in the military.
i’m not saying she should be the VP. i’m just saying that there’s nothing significant to exclude her from it. she’d pretty just be there to cast a deciding vote when there is a 50/50 tie. how often has that even happened?
now, if your concern is whether she could step into the POTUS spot if needed, then i think what matters more are her positions. she ticks off most of the conservative boxes as far as i can tell. that puts her well above McCain, Romney, GHWBush, and even Trump.
I agree. Women are for peacetime. Even then, they make a fn mess.
I want another guy as wise and fearless as The Donald, and someone determined to carry on as Donald would after he leaves office.

I am at a loss to think of anyone other than his children who fit those requirements. Anyway, it isn’t something to worry about. The Revelation 12:1-2 great sign in the heaven will occur on September 23-24, 2017, so all Hell will probably have broken out, quite literally, but then. We may get to make a statement about wanting to Make America Good Again, but then the end will come.
Women tend to make decisions based on raw emotion. Men, for the most part, tend to think rationally and make decisions based solely on the facts and logic.
I have had a few women supervisors in my time. And I find that they actively seek out enemies and conflict. Just saying.
I don’t understand the Newt obsession. The young kids are voting for Billary any way. Nothing will change that. But the rest of the American public is so nostalgic for the Clinton era, and they will still see Gingrich as the mean guy who attacked Bill Clinton and tried to cut everyone’s gubmit checks off in the 90s.
Trust me, every time Gingrich would go after Clinton in the 90s, Clinton’s numbers just went higher, higher, and higher. Gingrich is a bad choice and the media will make so much hay for Hillary against Newt...Bad bad deal.
