Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has been quietly having conversations with state party leaders to discuss the latest push by convention delegates to nominate anyone other than Donald Trump.
Priebus has spoken with GOP party chairmen in multiple states in recent days in part to get a better sense of how large the anti-Trump faction is among their convention delegations, according to two people familiar with the conversations.
While Priebus has made clear in these conversations that he is not spearheading the latest push for a coup, his involvement sends a signal that the RNC is taking this effort to dump Trump seriously even as other movements have fizzled.
One source said Priebus' ultimate goal is unclear. But some anti-Trump forces are hoping to garner enough support to press the convention's rules committee to alter the rules governing the convention and open a path for a different candidate.

God i HATE taking the side of Russians lately but that Russian leader was right when he said “America has gone mad and is trying to take the world with it!”
But if Trump is only down by 2 in most recent poll, then that leaves 10s of millions of us to fight.
I fought forty co workers in NYC in my department who were ALL liberals. Except the boss who was Italian and conservative :)
A lot of them told me they respected that i didn’t give a #### what all of them though, and sometimes, in dark corners, they would tell me they agreed with me on something.
If we show STRENGTH we can win!!!!
The GOPee has been a choke for decades.
old news
I’m old, but not too old for WAR!
Maybe Priebus is truing to talk some sense into them —I hope so.
This is CNN click bait/wishful thinking. Aint gonna happen.
Exactly. And it started with the Goldwater/LBJ election. It gained during the Nixon/Ford years, then was demolished by Reagan and then came the Bushes.
It really took off during the GW Bush administration. And people could not understand why the spent like crazy? Because nearly the whole bunch were liberals.

It will take every ounce of strength. The entire US establishment is arrayed against Trump. Every institution from Wall Street, to the Media, to the government bureaucracy, to the Republican Party seek to destroy him.
This country is standing on its last legs.
Voter nullification would be the dumbest thing the GOPe has done in the history of the party...
Well then, I’m not gonna die fat on my couch or waste away in a camp.
I will follow the strongest leader that steps forward.
Like I said before, nobody lives forever and I’m not leaving my nephews/nieces that kind of country without a fight.
Trump seems to trust Priebus, and Sean Spicer put out a statement that this won’t happen. Could they be playing dirty behind the scenes? Possibly, but I think they know they will lose the election in a landslide and fracture the party permanently. Maybe they are willing to do that to maintain status quo, but they know they will lose a lot of voters. Therefore, I think establishment folks like Ryan might let Trump get it and do what they have been doing, like having sitting governors not attend his rallies or having senators and congressmen run to the media and repudiate him. I think there is a segment that would rather have Hillary win and try again in 4 years than have Trump. I’m sure that’s not true of all of them, but there is definitely the Romney/Ryan/Bush wing that I think wants that.
The real ones, that is. Too many Lyn’ Ted stealth delegates.
That Rinse would be probing anyone sounds so gay....
Rinse is a shoe shine boy. Not a shot caller. Go to GOP.com and what do you see: Not one word about the presumptive nominee. That tells you all you need to know about where the RNC stands.
Well then, their time out in the Desert will be Decades...
There will be a big problem because I think if Hillary gets in, she gets in for eight years. I think she’ll stack the court and grant amnesty. All those new voters will surely vote Democrat. There won’t be a point in voting Republican again. One incentive, to me, was always the Supreme Court. I want Roe vs. Wade overturned. With the court stacked, I won’t even bother to vote.
GOPeers will not be appointing any more Scalias.
I would rather see the gop go caput than have the gop we have today.
If they try to pull anything like that I will never ever vote for a republican again. I have already told my congressman and senators.
