Orlando terrorist's chilling Facebook posts from inside club revealed

“I pledge my alliance to (ISIS leader) abu bakr al Baghdadi..may Allah accept me,” Mateen wrote in one post early Sunday morning. “The real muslims will never accept the filthy ways of the west” …“You kill innocent women and children by doing us airstrikes..now taste the Islamic state vengeance.”

Mateen’s social media accounts were taken down before they could be widely viewed by the public, but Johnson’s committee investigators have uncovered some or all of them. The senator has also written a letter to Facebook executives expressing concern about Mateen’s postings and asking for more information on his activities.

“It is my understanding that Omar Mateen used Facebook before and during the attack to search for and post terrorism-related content,” read Johnson’s letter. “According to information obtained by my staff, five Facebook accounts were apparently associated with Omar Mateen.”

Armchair warrior here... No one thought to attack in any way shape or form (from back with object)? There were over 300 people there. Were they all cowards?

And to the “they were not expecting and attack”. Todd Beamer was probably not expecting an attack either.

One other thing... no matter how hard the media and the Imposter-In-Chief claim that this was “a confused gay man”, the Islam factor just keeps rearing it’s demonic head and only 1/4 of us are listening.

There were at least 2 military vets there, one a combat experienced marine.

Todd Beamer had no military training, yet he was able to mount an attack on the armed hijackers.

"...Armchair warrior here..."

Clearly.

"...No one thought to attack in any way shape or form (from back with object)? There were over 300 people there. Were they all cowards?..."

It was dark. Victims had been drinking. There was loud music and bright flashing lights. There apparently was only a single functioning door...that the murderous terrorist gunman (who had cased the place for months) was guarding.

"... Todd Beamer was probably not expecting an attack either..."

Poor comparison. September 11th airplane passengers likely thought it was a plain-vanilla hijacking and they would be flown to Cuba or wherever for negotiations.

Todd Beamer and the other heroes of Flight# 93 learned about the other flights being suicide missions and THAT is the crucial information they (THANKFULLY) had to attack with food service carts, belts, and pots of boiling water in an attempt to regain control of the aircraft.

Exactly. They are crediting him with potentially saving SEVENTY innocents.
FReepers should stop calling the Marine a coward for not doing more.

"...Todd Beamer had no military training, yet he was able to mount an attack on the armed hijackers..."

Todd Beamer and the other heroes of Flight #93 got the drop on the terrorist hijacking dirtbags who took their plane.
They learned the fate of the other September 11th suicide mission aircraft and planned an excellent surprise counter-attack that almost worked.
They are indeed true American heroes, yet the dynamics of the Orlando scenario and the Flight #93 scenario are totally different.

But it’s still Christian right wing gun owners’ fault.

Calling it 'home grown terrorism' is an attempt to misdirect.

The perp was born in the US, but his parents were Islamic and from Afghanistan. They and mosque(s) influenced the perp.

It is irrelevant whether the influence and indoctrination was inspired by the Afghan element or the Islamic element or the birth location. The perp was radicalized, and that made him a terrorist -- whether born in NY or Kabul.

Obama uses 'home grown' in an attempt to place the blame on the US and distance the blame from Islam. That only works in the shell-game, because the 'radicalization' came from Islam (mosques and online) and the Afghan (parents) influence. Look here, but not there.

“it went on THREE hours? Are you serious?”

Yes. I’m guessing the narrative is still being crafted to explain it, and absolve everyone in command of any blame because this is SUCH an important political tool to advance the leftist freak agenda.

Todd Beamer had no military training, yet he was able to mount an attack on the armed hijackers.

The basic rules are:

1) Commit yourself to using an unreasonable amount of force. As much as you can physically muster.

2) Come to terms with the fact that your death is an acceptable outcome. So long as you take at least one of the SOB's with you.

I’d advise caution here. There are more than a few combat hardened and experienced warriors here on Free Republic. Don’t assume that it’s war gaming by those who wouldn’t know.

Let’s see, this Jihadist was facebooking, tweeting, and calling people while he was slaughtering them..perhaps if just ONE person had a GUN they would have been able to take him down while he was doing this..but NO, these people were sitting ducks because they were UNARMED

They were forcibly DISarmed by the State of Florida.

Which is precisely why people should stop insulting that Marine who saved the lives of SEVENTY people at the nightclub. Why, because he is gay?
They are criticizing him because they feel he "did not do enough" or some similar nonsense from the comfort of their air-conditioned homes.

Most people aren’t looking at the actual event. Alcohol and drugs played a significant role in the response. The attack began at last call, and I imagine many of the victims were well above the legal limit. Those with presence of mind and physical ability probably ran out first as anyone with sense would.

Many of those who were taken hostage were probably pretty inebriated. While a person will “sober up” from stress, it’s more akin to a coffee-stimulated drunk than true sobriety. Full physical capability isn’t instantaneous. Many were also trying to render aid to the wounded.

It does appear there was some window of opportunity, but no one can say with certainty and everyone should refrain from second-guessing every action or inaction on the part of the victims or police.

I hear you. Does that also insulate the several tens of others who chose not to defend their lives from criticism? I don’t have an opinion on what would have worked, as I wasn’t there, but it is clear what didn’t.

My sense is Orlando victims are getting a bum rap (not from you specifically, just in general) from many discussion forums.
Many people are largely living in Condition White with very little situational awareness. We all likely have family members who conduct their lives in that same Condition White mode, too.

What reasonable person would expect to be in a large nightclub that had only a SINGLE doorway? Investigators determined the other doorways were padlocked during the shooting.
Many of the victims likely never even saw the shooter before they woke up dead that fateful night. Just lots of deafening gunfire plus their first instinct probably to run for the *EXIT* signs...and then those innocents encounter locked doors? What a complete nightmare.

My inclination is to cut them a break regarding their relative lack of strategic / tactical decision-making skills, especially given the challenging conditions. Not all of us are adept at Condition Yellow living daily. Just my $0.02 adjusted for inflation and YMMV.
