1. Missing Dark Mode As with Android, for years a dark mode has been high on the list of iOS requests and yet again Apple didnt deliver it. 2. Goodbye Easy Access Widgets One of the larger changes made in iOS 10 is Apples decision to add widget support to its lockscreen and even some app icons for 3D Touch enabled devices (read: iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus). But what Apple didnt touch on at the time was it has also removed them from the notification center. 3. Basic Keyboard Omissions
Apple made some solid progress with the stock iOS keyboard in iOS 10. The primary goal was to make it better at anticipating the words you need by analysing how you type, something that sees Apple try to catch up to third party iOS keyboards from Google and Swiftkey.

Considering Win 7 will be supported until 2020, that means you can still use hardware that will be 23 years old and still receive security updates for that OS... A bit better than a 4-5 year obsolescence of a tablet!
That's a 1997, 266 MHz Pentium II running Windows 7 Ultimate. Yes, it probably is quite slow - but it will run - and run with 96 MB of RAM at that.
The S7 is glued together pretty tight. Check out iFixit, they have teardowns on about everything.
Bleh. None of these changes affect my Apple usage. Ipad 2 will still work, but you’re trapped in 2011 with low resolution and low quality cameras.
It will work until some virus or malware comes along that has been fixed in 10x.
But then again 10x will probably be worse than 9x until 11x comes out.
I am surprised they supported it that long. I bought an Ipod in 2012. I think it was 4th gen. They quit updating it about a year and a half later. Looks like the hardware cutoff for the new Mac OS coming out this fall is 2009/2010.
Pot calling the kettle black. You guys made me what I am.
Thanx for the tip about iFixIt. Looks to be useful.
Sounds like an OS issue.
This is my knock on Apple. Madness to think people are going to pay $695 every 18 months, forever.
Arrogance exemplified by the sealed battery case. The phones rot along the same sort of timeline as a well preserved Fuji apple in a refrigerator.
That’s actually true. My iPad Air from November 2013 is still very usable in 2016 running iOS 9.3.2 (thanks to 1 GB of RAM); however, I will likely finally replace it about 16 months from now because its functionality will be way behind the latest iPad models.
Oh God, now I feel so.... dirty....
And who am "you guys" anyway?
:-)
Point taken. I guess I should have more accurately phrased my comment as "Windows 7 won't run worth a crap on a Pentium-II" rather than "Windows 7 won't run on a Pentium-II" (the latter implies "at all").
I have found that Microsoft is generally very cautious about their [minimum] System Requirements, which is where the 1GHz CPU "requirement" comes from.
Speaking of "it probably is quite slow", back in 1999 I ran Windows 95 on a 1988-vintage 30MHz 486 with 8MB of RAM. It took ages to do anything, and you could only load one application at a time. It was nearly f**king useless, practically, but it proved the same point.

One billion iOS devices later with out battery access and you guys are STILL predicting this? You need a better, clearer crystal ball.
No, I need a better cuttings vacuum on a vertical mill and some dimensions on just where the tumor mass is located....
You are angry Apply obsoleted a 5 year old piece of hardware that doesn’t have the processing power to keep up?
Wow, I think you just want to gripe for gripes sake.
Your IPAD 2 will run what it has as long as you want, just can’t upgrade to the newer OS because its not supported...
After 5 years that’s not overly shocking.
You do realize batteries can be replaced, just need a little effort... and that Samsung and most other high end device manufacturers have moved to the non user replaced batteries as well?
What a non issue.
I can bash Apple for many things, but the sealed device is only an issue for folks who just hate apple to hate apple.
I’m not a bit shocked that Apple will leave their customers without security updates just to sell them more hardware. Especially with just a few minths notice.
Yep! Microsoft generally obsoletes hardware VERY slowly, and supports things as long as possible. I still have some DOS programs I wrote back in the late 80s that run in a console on Windows 10! A 30 year old program still running...
Yes, I could rewrite it - but why? It still works, still processes data. No need to recreate things.
That’s the biggest strength that Microsoft has - it supports programs and hardware well beyond what most companies and people would expect. That is the ultimate lock-in; support your customers with whatever they’re using for as long as they like.
