A new immigration bill under consideration by the House Judiciary Committee would impose unprecedented restrictions on U.S. citizens seeking to sponsor the immigration of their family members, requiring that all parties submit to mandatory DNA testing as part of their visa applications.
H.R. 5203, the Visa Integrity and Security Act of 2016, would require that a genetic test is conducted to confirm such biological relationship, adding that any such genetic test shall be conducted at the expense of the petitioner or applicant.
>>Anyone here with potential overseas brides or grooms want to give the government their DNA ?<<
Not what the bill calls for. It is for sponsoring family and this is to make sure family members are just that.
Ridiculous. Millions can come over with zero vetting whatsoever and lay claim to all manner of public benefits, but an honest person tries to bring over a family member, and they want DNA samples.
If you come here illegally you are welcomed with open arms.
It’s only if you come here legally that the feral government is worried about you.
About damned time...
Well, the good news is, this won’t apply to the ISIS refugees!
What do you think tightening up immigration rules means?
I suspect it wouldn't matter. They're probably all related, anyway.
Who’s getting the DNA testing contract? A friend of the Mooch, perhaps?
There is a thriving market in, "family papers". Say you have a relative in the US but you are happy where you are. For somewhere between two and ten thousand dollars you can sell your id and your customer can "legally" immigrate.
The same thing happens with green card holders, they work for a could years, sell their cards, sometimes multiple times, and when they turn 65 collect SS.
I don’t see anything wrong with this.
It’s like requiring a voter ID.
Why would an honest person object?
At the company where I used to work, we used to interview job candidates in India over the phone. Many of them were quite knowledgeable, and could readily answer all the technical questions. However, when they were hired and showed up for work, they seemed to have forgotten everything they once knew.
Our department head decided all phone interviews should be conducted over Skype, so the interviewer could actually see the candidate. Once we did this, the problem went away.
My x sister in law got her sister in claiming her as a daughter. They got a new birth certificate done in Mexico. This type of thing is happening every day because documents from the third world are corruptible.
Anyone here think that relatives admitted to the country ought to be actually related to their sponsoring relative?
Good
I could see that . . . I guess. Again, it’s like we have this really strict system over here, and then over there millions come across unimpeded by so much as a glance.
How long will this genetic information be stored? What agencies can it be shared with? And under what circumstances? Can it be shared with non-governmental interests? (Insurance companies) Will it be incorporated into your medical profile?
Back in the early 1900s, there were “paper sons”, children and young adults brought over with fake papers to say they were the son of someone legally allowed to come.
Families were interrogated on birth orders, where they lived and neighbors, looking for the fake family member who didn’t know what everyone else did.
Wonder if the main man Zero would be a match for his purported ancestors....
This is about sponsoring FAMILY members for immigration, not potential spouses. ........I’d vote for this bill!
Likewise, many of the minor illegals are being allowed to be taken in by supposed Aunts/Uncles who are US citizens. I’d vote to require the DNA test in those cases, too!
