Debate on the rights of people to identify as a gender other than the one they were born with has reached the national stage this year. But at Springfield Township schools, efforts to understand and accommodate gender-expansive students have been happening for years now, culminating in the passage of the first comprehensive district policy on transgender rights in the state on April 19.
The policy recognizes the rights of students to identify as the gender of their choice, to be referred to by staff by the name and pronoun they identify with, to participate in activities in alignment with the gender of their identity and to use the facilities (bathrooms, locker rooms, etc.) corresponding to that gender.
The School District of Springfield Township shall accept a students asserted gender identity when it is determined to be part of the students core identity. Staff members shall not question or disregard a students assertion of gender identity unless district staff have a credible basis for believing that the student is asserting a particular gender identity for an improper purpose, the policy states.
A letter from the Obama administration guiding schools on to how the Departments of Justice and Education would interpret federal non-discrimination statutes (under Title IX) was released last week, nearly a month after the school district passed its policy. But Springfield High School Principal Chuck Rittenhouse said work to accommodate students has been in the process for years. Continued...

The mental illness and denial of biological truth is on the march again.

Like, maybe, they’re nuts and need psychiatric help?

They must be so proud.
From the article:
“ the rights of people to identify as a gender other than the one they were born with “
And they call US science deniers!
The long-term impact this appalling lack of privacy at ones most personal moments on a person's sense of dignity and self-esteem is an unknown.
Ten Years After wrote a song in 1971 called”I’d love to change the World.”
It’s almost prophetic.
“Staff members shall not question or disregard a students assertion of gender identity unless district staff have a credible basis for believing that the student is asserting a particular gender identity for an improper purpose, the policy states.”
Right. A staff member will put themselves out there and call a student on their possible “improper purpose” for claiming to be transgender. It would be career suicide.
Gosh, someday they may even come up with a comprehensive district policy on the right to read, write and do arithmetic. Or are they too busy interviewing little tots about their gender identity to bother teaching them anything?
Translation: staff members must mind-read, unless they mustn't mind-read.
For clarification purposes: there are two Springfields in PA, one in Delaware County (SW of Philly) and one in Montgomery County (NW of Philly). This stupidity comes from the latter, though it would not have surprised me if it had come from the former.
The Great Pretenders.
And conservatives are the “science deniers.” Rrrrrright...
If the State can decide who is male or female - it can decide anything. If the State can take away privacy - even in children's restrooms and dressing rooms - it can take away anything. If the State can force you to shower with a stranger of the opposite sex - it can force you to do anything.
The single piece of private property everyone owns is their own body. Degrade the concept of modesty and privacy and you erode self-worth and autonomy. Degrade the concept of self-worth and autonomy and you erode the notion of private property. Degrade the notion of private property... and private property will cease to exist.
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."
That is the short version. Here is the unspoken version: The State will take from each according to his ability, the State will give to each according to his needs.
And that is the goal of all Marxism - Progressive or otherwise. Marxism says that everything belongs to the State. Your money, your personal property, even your body.
The demoralization of America seems to be nearing completion... once complete, those at the top will be able to physically silence objectors and the populace will hum merely along, just like the Germans under Nazi rule... Sieg Heil!
What is the point of rearranging society to accommodate 0.2% of its members?
Excellent point. We are being compelled by the liberals, to upend existing laws and social norms, to mollify a fraction of a percent of the people who have some sort of gender confusion, sexual problems, etc.
It seems to be we could all deal with these matters without , #1 Liberals getting in our faces that we are discriminatory and bigoted, #2, without the federal government and Obama issuing decrees on the subject, #3, without lawsuits being filed by the likes of the ACLU.
Staff members shall not question or disregard a students assertion of gender identity unless district staff have a credible basis for believing that the student is asserting a particular gender identity for an improper purpose
Don’t think that some “randy” teen guys haven’t been thinking about this, and claim to be trans to be able to enter the girls locker room.
A simple and inexpensive solution...
Porta potties for that 0.6% that can’t make up their minds.
Make that 0.2%
Set two porta-potties on the school front lawn with a sign TRANSGENDER ONLY! See how many students want to be seen going into them.
