Corey Lewandowski to Head Up Trump VP Search
Gateway Pundit ^ | May 10, 2016 | Jim Hoft

Donald Trump Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski, who was falsely accused of assault and battery by attention-seeking hoaxer Michelle Fields in March, will head up Donald Trump’s VP search.

The Hill reported: "Donald Trump’s controversial campaign manager will helm the presumptive GOP nominee’s running mate search, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

Corey Lewandowski will lead the campaign’s vetting of prospective vice presidential candidates, a process the Post says will “ramp up” shortly.

Ben Carson, who ended his own presidential bid earlier this year, has confirmed previously that he will be on the search committee as well.

Carson has so far muddied the waters in interviews about what Trump is looking for in a running mate. He previously told The Wall Street Journal that Trump could consider a Democrat, before Trump ruled out that prospect the next day".

Huck is good enough. But I always get the feeling that Huck is, first and foremost, for Huck. He sees a winner in Trump, and he’s going to hitch his wagon to that star. It’s a sort of “loyalty”, but maybe not the most noble type.

You’re right. He’s 100% pro-America. And I do like him. I think he’d be great as Press Secretary. He has a quick wit, is very knowledgeable about just about everything, and has a unthreatening way about him. He’d be perfect, and could “handle” the MSM in the best way.

I’m looking for very possible Reagan redo where Trump has a good-to-great presidency and Trump’s VP, like Bush Sr., goes in on his coattails.

We should be thinking like that.

Disappointed that your CA vote is after all is over? Try living in Alaska, even farther west. That’s where I was when Reagan was elected. He had won hours before I could vote, but I still did vote. Anti-climactic for sure.

Considering Trump has already said he wants someone as VP who can get things through Congress, and he wants an insider in contrast to his outsider status, I think that pretty much rules anyone who is NOT a politician out of the running.

I'm not the only one who thinks Corey is now in the back seat. Still in the car but not driving it any more.

From a recent Weekly Standard article. (OK, it's the Weekly Standard and with a Politico reference to boot. I get it. But it still rings true to me.)

Here it is:

"In charge" is exactly what Manafort appeared to be shortly after his hiring in late March. It wasn't just appearing on the Sunday shows. Manafort also began asserting a more active role in shaping the direction of the campaign and the candidate. Manafort was "gaining influence" and "consolidating his own power," said Politico, while Lewandowski was "losing the tug-of-war" and "has been neutered." New York magazine's Gabriel Sherman reported Manafort had "taken over" the campaign.

Trump has also said, and shown, that if sees a better idea than the one he’s proposed, he’s willing to change his mind - the mark of intelligence IMO. I see Trump as an intelligent man and hope he realizes that private citizens would be valuable to his administration, as they were with Reagan.

One can always hope.

Well I think its clear Manafort is now number one as he’s been brought in to manage the convention. But campaign roles change. It looks like Lewandowski still has a lot of responsibilities. He travels everywhere with Trump. It appears he’s a team player.

That was my implication, substantive role fan mean many things but being listened to is an imperative.

Pray we are blessed enough to have Newt or someone like him as V.P.

You have it right. What counts here is who among the high echelon players is THE ONE who Trump turns to for the big strategic decisions. It seems clear to me that Manafort is that guy. And yes, Lewandowski is still a major player.

Newt won an online poll by 70%. He had a quarter of the vote, next highest had 14% and that person doesn’t want the job.
The next highest is Doc Carson, a member of the search team.

So Newt is the people’s favorite, and as such should be considered.

Trump want someone that know Capitol Hill and has gotten things done in congress. Newt fits that best.

"Donald Trump’s controversial campaign manager

What makes him "controversial" other than the fact that that Breitbart bimbo falsely accused him of assault?
