Kerry slams Trump's wall, tells grads to prepare for 'borderless world'
Washington Examiner ^ | 5/6/16 | PETE KASPEROWICZ

Posted on 05/08/2016 7:42:40 AM PDT by AndyJackson

Secretary of State John Kerry took a shot at Donald Trump during his Friday commencement speech at Northeastern University, by saying no wall is big enough to keep dangerous terrorists out of the United States.

"Many of you were in elementary school when you learned the toughest lesson of all on 9/11," he said. "There are no walls big enough to stop people from anywhere, tens of thousands of miles away, who are determined to take their own lives while they target others."

"So I think that everything that we've lived and learn tells us that we will never come out on top if we accept advice from sound-bite salesmen and carnival barkers who pretend the most powerful country on Earth can remain great by looking inward," Kerry added. "And hiding behind walls at a time that technology has made that impossible to do and unwise to even attempt."

Kerry didn't mention Trump by name, but Trump has repeatedly called for a wall on the southern U.S. border, and many Democrats, and some Republicans, have taken to calling him a carnival barker.

Kerry also seemed to dismiss the importance of national borders, and said technology has reshaped the world into one that the U.S. must engage at the risk of being left behind. He said Trump and others who want to look inward are making a mistake, even in the face of rising tension and violence in the world.

"For some people, that is all they need simply to climb under the sheets, close their eyes and push the world away," Kerry said. "And shockingly, we even see this attitude from some who think they ought to be entrusted with the job of managing international affairs."

"The future demands from us something more than a nostalgia for some rose-tinted version of the past that did not really exist in any case," he said. "You're about to graduate into a complex and borderless world."

Phase 1- praise the rest of the world and demand America be more like them.

Phase 2- increase the number of foreigners in America with dual or non-American allegiance.

Phase 3- remove all borders

Phase 4- no more America.

If they came right out and said their goal is the destruction of America, people wouldn’t vote for them.

Getting rid of Kerry sounds like a wise move. Let’s face it, if I was poor and living in the Congo, I’d move here in a flash and bring my immediate and extended family. Then I’d watch in horror as this country turned into a hell hole too.

What are the Americans to do when their own government turns against them?

It seems like the only way to get the Feds undivided attention is for a state or states to lob artillery rounds into one of their forts.

“Free flow of labor over national borders.”

That is in those free trade agreements that some posters here are willing to die to defend. You see, they have a more rare, higher form of wisdom than the rest of us. For example, they can see good in the fact that most of what we buy in the form of high priced consumer goods are made overseas.

“Borderless world”

My word, Kerry is a complete moron...

The world countries will always have borders either natural, by cultures, race or religion...

It’s human nature to associate among like peoples...

I thought the border wall was to stop illegal aliens from walking into this country from Mexico.

Stopping Muslim terrorists is a different type of problem. Tom

If the guy operating the artillery is of ME origin, even that won’t disturb the feds.

Without the nation state we will get tribalism operating under a globalist fascist tyranny. The worst of all possible out comes.

Ah yes, 2004, three debates between the two old Skull & Boners. Never one mention of illegal migration. If nobody talks about it, it doesn’t exist.

Remember when the Clintons signed NAFTA in the 90’s that the rationale was to make things in Mexico better, to help our neighbors develop their own economy, so the Mexican people would STAY HOME and not flood our borders.

Our state spends a ton of money on illegal immigrants every year. We have plenty of people who were born here who have a lot of problems who are falling through the cracks since Obama took office. Kerry is crazy; he is a reminder that no matter how bad we think things are they could be even worse. It is possible that Kerry might even be worse for the country as president than the Clinton crime syndicate. Thank goodness that a strong candidate with a wide appeal is now our presumptive nominee. We truly are facing stupidity of unprecedented proportions on the other side.

As we slowly dissolve our borders it seems the other nations are perfectly happy defending theirs.

This is where the left and corporatists heads are at.

Let's not leave out the Big "L" Libertarians from this borderless world discussion

Crossing an international border to support your family and pursue dreams of a better life is not an inherently criminal act...

When large numbers of otherwise decent people routinely violate a law, the law itself is probably the problem.

A borderless world, eh? In Kerry’s utopia, anyone can show up on US soil, get full benefits (funded by US taxpayers, of course) and vote.

Other than Trump, I don’t see anyone out there with a wit of concern about US taxpayers, citizens, or national security.
