Cruz Vows to ‘Go the Distance’ Ahead of Crucial Indiana Primary

With a pivotal vote in Indiana this week, Ted Cruz is vowing to "go the distance," whatever the outcome of Tuesday's primary.

"It is an incredibly important state," Cruz said of Indiana on ABC's "This Week." "We are competing hard. I hope we do well here. I can tell you I'm barnstorming the state, we're in a bus with my family, we're doing everything we can to earn the votes of the men and women in this state. We're going the distance. We're competing the entire distance.”

Cruz, trailing his main rival Donald Trump by 431 delegates, enters this week after two weeks of losses to Trump in six states. When pressed by ABC News’ Martha Raddatz about whether Indiana is a must win, Cruz would not say. While it is mathematically impossible for Cruz to clinch the 1237 delegates needed to secure the nomination before the Republican convention in July, Cruz says Trump won't get there either.

Ted Cruz’s big donors will tell him to take a hike if/when he loses Indiana.

If Cruz doesn't withdraw after losing Indiana, it will mean that the GOPE has plans to cheat Trump out of the nomination, even if Trump shows up with 1237+ delegates.

He’ll go the distance until he can no longer steal the delegates.

Yes.

Then again, I thought he’d have been marginalized early on in the race as a bizarre extremist. THere are some ways in which the Establishment having embraced him for the last four months now can’t credibly make that claim.

So his character is exposed, but isolating him as an ideological extremist will be harder to do unless he does indeed keep staking out new territory to the right.

My hope is that President Trump won’t give him too many reasons to oppose his administration on those grounds.

Curious that Cruz made all of the Sunday morning talkshows.

For months, he seemed to avoid them.

Now, it seems too little, too late.

[Slept through them.]

Did he start every response with ‘Donald said ...’ or ‘Donald did ...’ or Donald didn’t ...’? Cruz has been trying the mode of attack candidates used in the debates to attack the media.

Cruz’s trying to use the tactic to attack Trump doesn’t work. Buy a clue, Ted. Voters are more concerned about WHAT you are running FOR, not WHO you are running AGAINST.

Next, Cruz will be challenging Trump to a debate after the results are in Tuesday in Indiana.

Cruz is going to small towns in the south east of the state. He’s been here in New Albany and Jeffersonville, IN.

The closes for Trump was when he came to Louisville, Ky. That is a bridge away from these two towns. Trump did take Louisville. Perhaps he feels he has my area. Cruz has small crowds in both places around here.

I have not seen ONE Trump or Cruz sign up here in my town. I’m taking care of Trump signs thanks to a freeper. I’ve seen one KaSICK sign.

If Cruz doesn't withdraw after losing Indiana, it will mean that the GOPE has plans to cheat Trump out of the nomination, even if Trump shows up with 1237+ delegates.

One of Manafort's main jobs is to ensure that doesn't happen. He knows all the tricks and shenanigans that can be tried and is there to intercept and neutralize such efforts. In the meantime Trump has pivoted to focus the bright light of publicity on "the process" while simultaneously working behind the scenes with the RNC to help them down the road of acceptance. Skullduggery doesn't work in broad daylight.

It sounds more like Cruz is just running on autopilot waiting for the batteries to run out. He's trying to put on a brave face but I think he knows that after Tuesday he's done.

Ugh..if I hear the word “barnstorming” from this political geek one more time. The guy is truly creepy as is his “running mate”. Go away Ted! PLEASE!

Raphael Jr. has to win the presidency because he’s not going to be a US Senator next time around.

For a smart guy, Ted doesn’t do well at long term thinking.

Cruz could have guaranteed himself the VP slot by working with Trump.

Meaning, in 4 year (should Trump lose) or 8 years (should Trump win the presidency) he would have been at the front of the line to become president.

Instead, he has gone for a win-it-all-now/long-shot gamble.

Given his age, his choice makes not sense whatsoever.

Ted “Immigrant” Cruz is going the distance. Wow. I’m impressed that this great Constitutional scholar is ...just...so...delusional. He’s not a natural born citizen and is not constitutionally qualified for the office.

Of course he HAS to say that now — before the vote in Indiana. I fully expect him to at least suspend if not outright withdraw should he lose there.

I've used this analogy before, but Cruz is like a team that has lost the World Series 4 games to 1 and insists on playing games 6 and 7 in hopes that he will somehow overtake the other team.

Not only that, but he is ordering rings.

There is no next race for him, voters and the Internet never forget.

He’s more than getting his behind kicked, he’s exhibiting negative traits that he will never be able to erase.

Once you are deemed “unlikable” by the public that perception can not be changed.

Say that a million more times and maybe some small claims court in Idaho will agree with you but it won't have jurisdiction to enter decisions interpreting the constitution in a court without a court reporter, a transcript or an ability for its decisions to be appealed to a court that might have jurisdiction.

Can we get back to the REAL issues now?

Benghazi, ISIS, Iran's nuke weapons program, illegal immigration tide, aliens illegally registering to vote Demonrat, the babies, guns, the death of American blue collar employment opportunities, jobs taken from Americans by low income illegals, American jobs exported to hellholes like Bangladesh, the atrophy of the American military, the replacement of traditional patriot military officers by "alternative lifestyle" sissies and other unqualified folks, the drastic need for re-armament, Common Core and the failure of the overwhelming majority of gummint skewels to deliver alumni/ae with capability beyond the ability to fill outt welfare applications, the obscene cost of what is hilariously called "higher edumakashun" but is really four or more years of unsupervised adolescent sex, drugs and rock 'n roll for "ethnic studies" majors, subsidized (complete with courses in "remedial" alphabet and "remedial" counting on one's fingers) by the taxes of auto mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, electricians but not enough to help hapless neo-Marxist students from personal (unbankruptable) financial disaster, banks that far prefer to extend unbankruptable student loans rather than small business start up loans, who gets appointed to SCOTUS and other fedcourts and how will the nominees rule, envirowhackoism jacking the price of energy further crippling Americans of modest means, etc., etc., etc.

You know, all the "little issues" that are sooooooo irrelevant compared to where Ted was born or whether Marco's parents were US citizens (or other inane fantasies that get absolutely nowhere with the courts) or who wins the low class insult of the week competition in the GOP circular firing squad. OR what ridiculous scandal-mongering the National Enquirer is up to this week.
