Inside Cruz’s camp, confidence crumbles

BURLINGAME, Calif. — Ted Cruz is speaking confidently about knocking off Donald Trump to take the GOP nomination, but his top staffers admit they’re getting nervous.

In interviews, several aides, speaking on the condition of anonymity, expressed growing alarm that Cruz would lose Indiana’s primary on Tuesday — an outcome that would be a major blow to his hopes of holding Trump below the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the GOP nomination on the party convention’s first ballot. The aides concede that, without a win in an Indiana primary where 57 delegates are at stake, Cruz’s shot at the nomination would significantly narrow.

Within the campaign, some are turning to the question of what’s next. One senior aide said there had been no discussion about dropping out before the final primary contests are held on June 7 but noted that Cruz wouldn’t be eager to prolong a campaign he was convinced he couldn’t win.

You forgot, “We act like we’ve won something when we have less than half the delegates and 4 million fewer votes.”

Instead of Vice President, Ted should have picked his head of FEMA, because his campaign is a disaster. ;-)

That is the creepiest graphic I’ve ever seen.

Bravo.

“Is it any surprise that the two stealth Bushies this election hailed from the two big states of Texas and Florida?” NOPE

“So who’s the next “consistent conservative” Golden Sachs and Globalists are nurturing?”

We need to be investigating and uncovering everything as soon as any newcomer enters the political horizon. Ted should not have gotten this far.

Cruz will lose.

The push polls supporting Cruz are simply lies.

Trump will win over 50%.

Even if Cruz could prevent Trump from getting the nomination on the first ballot, there is no way he would get the nomination on subsequent ballots. The GOPe hates him just as much and is using him. Jeb! has more of a chance of getting the nomination than Cruz.

Just caught an apparent Cruz internal poll showing Trump up 52% to 31%. I linked it between two twitter pages but there was no corroborating source otherwise. Praying this reflects the actual state of Indiana and that Hoosiers give Mr. Trump his seventh consecutive landslide victory Tuesday!!

>>You Trumpkins are something else.

Why, yes. Yes we are. We know that it isn’t 1989 anymore and 1989 solutions won’t work. Cruz is offering us 1989 solutions to a set of 2016 problems.

Wake up Rip Van Winkle. While you were sleeping, America fundamentally changed. A lot of new constructs need to be torn down before some “consistent conservative” can do anything. Only Trump can tear them down because he’s the only candidate who even admits that they are there.

Cruz is such a fool.

Many of these delegates that he claims to be supporting him due to his vaunted ground game are simply nevertrumpers.

If he somehow pulled off denying Trump the 1237, Cruz would need 500-600 delegates to switch to him on a second ballot. Heck, maybe more depending on how many pledged Cruz delegates stay with him.

Even Kasich knows the later is a pipe dream. Which is why he hangs around like a vulture.

Now, that said, I do think it’s important for Trump to get well over 1237. If Trump loses Indiana, but manages to get to just at, or over 1237 I fully expect shenanigans in the credential committee.

A Trump win in Indiana could lead to a near sweep of the remaining contest whether Cruz drops out or not. Would be nice to roll into Cleveland with 1400 or so.

Cruz told Anderson Cooper that he is a scotch man. Nothing against a good scotch, but it’s not for the faint of heart.

Lucifer the Canadian Lawyer has had NO way to 1237 since New York but believes that his power to cheat can bring him home. Evil triumphs when good men do nothing! Vote for Trump and support him however you can.

He has what physiognomers call a "Cubocanadian" nose.

It’s over. Only a fool would think otherwise and most of Cruz’s staff aren’t fools. After the convention I don’t see Cruz campaigning for Trump but I hope he doesn’t do anything to hurt him either.

I would not be surprised if he decided not to serve out his senate term.

He'll remain in the Senate as a conservative voice of opposition to the liberal administration. Which we're going to have regardless of who wins in November.
