North Korea has fired what is believed to be a submarine-launched ballistic missile off the east coast of the Korean peninsula, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said Saturday.
The missile was fired at 6:30 p.m. local time (5:30 a.m. ET), South Korean officials said, and appears to have flown for about 30 km (about 19 miles) -- well short of the 300 km (roughly 186 miles) that would be considered a successful test.

China fired off a nuke too while he was busy golfing and meeting the child of a country he despises.

I notice that last couple of missiles fizzled. I wonder if some sort of anti missile rocket radar has been tested lately?
i know it hasn’t happened, but dang all those weapons we, the Russians and Chinese have, a miracle we haven’t accidentally started a war (any of the three)
Ping
Don’t we have a nasty little airborne laser? Just speculating.
Submarines, they’re dangerous at sea.
Some sink....
Just saying.
Tell me this picture is from a new Home Alone movie and Zero is about to get a swinging paint can in the face.
“i know it hasnt happened, but dang all those weapons we, the Russians and Chinese have, a miracle we havent accidentally started a war (any of the three)”
Russian and American cultures are very safety oriented. Chinese military operations and weapons are copied from both and are probably safer than third world militaries. All three have very disciplined military forces that will follow orders even if those orders put them personally at risk.
The real risk comes in when third world militaries have nuclear weapons. If individual commanders can use the weapons they just might. The middle eastern mindset is dramatically different than Russian, American or Chinese people. Several years ago Pakistan launched a surprise assault on the outlaw areas. They were bloody and had no obvious goal. Indian intelligence reported that Pakistan had lost several nuclear weapons to domestic terrorists and launched the assault to recover those weapons.
If Iran has nuclear weapons and the leader in charge fails to use them as they have promised they would, that leader will likely be replaced by somebody who will use those weapons. As these weapons proliferate the probability that they will be used increases exponentially. Probably within the next twenty years at least one city will be nuked. The Jihad was actually reinitialized by President Carter. But we have Obama to thank for this present looming disaster.
What? The Norks mad at the ocean again?
Thank you for this great reply. Being on FR is like having your own history/military channel!
I think a presidential candidate could get a lot of advisors from this board.
I know we NY folks aren’t loved around here, but this NYer thanks all the southern folk who have given me so much knowledge on so many subjects.
