Ted Cruz called California "the big enchilada on Wednesday and said it would be the state that ultimately decides the Republican nomination. But a new poll from Capitol Weekly/Sextant Strategies shows Donald Trump in a dominant position across the state.
The results, provided to POLITICO, show Trump leading statewide with 41 percent of the vote and Cruz trailing far behind with 23 percent. John Kasich is in third with 21 percent, and 15 percent of Republicans said they remain undecided.
California is worth 172 delegates when it votes on June 7 with the winner of each of the states 53 congressional districts receiving three delegates. The statewide winner receives 13 delegates.
The Capitol Weekly/Sextant Strategies poll shows Trump winning in almost every corner of the state, from San Diego and Orange County to northern California and the Bay Area, though some regions have small sample sizes. Cruz performs strongest in the Central Valley, as he has in previous surveys, though he still trails Trump there by 7 percentage points, 35 percent to 28 percent. Trump leads in the liberal Bay Area, but it is Kasich who nudges above Cruz into second place, trailing Trump 39 percent to 25 percent.
Trumps strongest region is the Inland Empire of southern California, where he hits 49 percent support. Trump scores best among older voters, winning those 55 and over with 43 percent, and weaker among younger voters.
“So in 08 California Republicans voted for an amnesty shill in McCain in super numbers and now you going to vote for a democrat in Trump because he is going to build a wall.”
In 2008 McCain presented himself as anti-immigration and pro- wall.
“Senator McCain helped write the 2007 immigration bill supporting a path to legalization for illegal immigrants that includes learning English and paying fines, but said earlier this year that he would no longer vote for his own bill. He voted for a fence along the Mexican border.”

What a guy.
“I am a resident Californian. All the Republicans I know here love Trump. California is definitely Trump Country among Republicans, because illegal aliens are a big issue here and they love Trumps message both regarding building a wall aa well as the economy and jobs.”
Every Republican Guy in Northern California, I know will vote for Trump for the illegal issues.
About 40% of the women claim to not like him. They for some reasons liked Jeb, Carson, or Rubio. None of them were for Cruz or are for him now. All of their husbands were for Trump and would have cancelled their votes. If Carson is still on our ballots, he might get more votes than Cruz.
Many Cali voters for Trump, who agree with his stand on illegals, will not say so out loud due to PC pressure, but they will vote for Trump in the general.
There may be more Californicator Supporters for Cruz on FR than real voters.
and we thank you for that. i was not insulting California Republicans, just really really trying to wrap my head around how a Trump supporter can square a circular argument. I think Cruz will do very well in California.
Thanks for posting this.
Now, we know why Cruz wants Kasick to drop out.
By the time we get to California it will turn out to be like New York and a huge landslide. Cruz is losing support by the
week because people see he is typical GOPe weasel lawyer.
I understand. But the radio report I heard I believe indicated the big demands for more registration forms were associated with people sending in the forms as newly registered Republicans. Let me see if I can find a link.
It’s an election year. Right on schedule.
And the trend is your friend!
Go Trump Go!
Anyone know how the CA delegate system works? By district? How are they split up?
The Establishment GOP don't care about wining - they want to stop Trump by hook or crook. The social hot button issues are designed to distract the base like a red flag distracts a bull before the matador stabs it to death.
You have a greater chance of being killed by an illegal alien than seeing a trans person in a public restroom. You have a greater chance your job is outsourced than seeing a trans person in a bathroom. I live in NYC - in Manhattan no less - and I have never seen one in a public bathroom.
That’s normal. California is much like New York.
>> I was really disappointed with his (Trumps) Transgender Bathroom statement today <<
Cheer up, my FRiend, cheer up.
That’s because by no later than tomorrow, Mr. Trump will have found a nifty way to revise and reverse his position.
I copy/pasted this from the CA GOP Website.

California National Delegation
Welcome to the official California web portal for the Republican National Convention, July 18-21, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio!
2016conventionlogofinal2016 is set to be one of the most important elections of our lifetime and we invite you to take part by applying to be a delegate or alternate delegate for the Republican National Convention. The California Delegation to the Republican National Convention is comprised of 341 California Republicans (172 delegates and 169 alternates).
By completing an application form and listing your 2016 candidate of choice you will help the CRP provide a comprehensive list of potential delegates and alternates to the Republican Presidential candidates for their consideration.
Californias election laws award delegates on a winner take all basis for each Congressional District, which means the candidate that wins each Congressional District during the June 7, 2016 Primary Election will receive all three delegates and alternate delegates for that district. In addition California has 10 at-large delegates and alternate delegates which are awarded to the overall winner of the statewide vote
As you think about applying, please remember to take into consideration the large financial and time commitment required for being a delegate. Delegates will need to assume all costs for food, travel, lodging (the RNC requires 5 night minimum hotel stay, i.e. you pay for 5 nights lodging even if you dont stay all 5 nights) and a $900 California Delegation participation fee (paid with personal funds).
This is not intended to dissuade you from signaling your interest in being a delegate or alternate, but to ensure that you are aware of the commitment necessary with only five weeks between Californias primary and the RNC convention we must provide candidates a list of potential delegates that will not drop out due to cost or time constraints.
Also keep in mind that by submitting your form and signaling your interest, the CRP will perform our due diligence to ensure we are providing the presidential candidates with a solid list of potential delegates.
Please check our FAQ page or contact the CRP office at info@cagop.org if you have any questions.

I did not care for it either. But in the whole scheme of things there are a lot bigger fish to fry. Building the wall is one of many. GO TRUMP GO
The Cruz Collapse is in full swing. To know him is to loath him.
‘Cruzlims’
First time I’ve seen that one, LOL! :)
Actually no, I had to look up your reference.
