Harriet Tubman is the next face of the $20 bill; $5 and $10 bills will also change

arriet Tubman will replace President Andrew Jackson as the face of the $20 bill, and Jackson will be moved to the back of the bill alongside an image of the White House, Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew said Wednesday.

Alexander Hamilton, the nation’s first Treasury secretary, will remain on the front of the $10 bill, but the back of that bill, which currently bears an image of the Treasury building, will feature leaders of the suffrage movement.

The reverse of the $5 bill will be overhauled to include opera singer Marian Anderson, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr
Lew said the designs of all three bills are slated to be completed and unveiled by 2020, the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

I totally agree. No people. National buildings and monuments only.

People = Politics

Isn’t it time to upgrade to polymer currency instead of paper?

Good news!

Once they decided it must be a woman, I was wondering if they go for Hillary ... or for the Typhoid Mary ....

Now, the rumor is that the $1 bill must feature a transsexual.

I’d basically agree.

Except Washington.

Of course, his overweening greatness was probably why we ended up putting “real” people on anyway who don’t deserve it. He was the most adulated man in history, perhaps. From coinage to mock funerals to memorial engravings, people could not stop venerating him.

Put his face on coins - next thing you know - hey, why not other guys we think are terrific?

Anybody here...seen a $2 bill lately?

Yes....every time i serve a search warrant on a mexican drug dealer's home.....for some reason that escapes me....it seems to be a good luck charm for them.

i find them pinned to the walls in their wallets in their sock drawers.

They are legal tender - and they are still made. Just as an 1820 cent is still legal tender, regardless of age.

My husband has a story about that. Some young puke actually called security on him at an IKEA because he “tried” including a $2 in his payment. Boy didn’t believe it was real money; counterfeit joke or something. Husband was dumb-founded. And vindicated.

I have no problem with honoring Harriet Tubman, a remarkable American. However, the larger trend here is anti white and hate filled.

The real tragedy is that we have any printed money at all.

I don’t like this. Nothing against Harriet Tubman. Just against the change in habits for so many Americans.

Will Trump reverse this when he gets in office?

I’d rather we went back to having native American images on the coinage and bills.

I loved the way the old coins like the buffalo nickel and the Indian head penny looked.

The old paper bills with Indians looked great as well...I have seen images of the old bill but never saw a real one up close.

A Crazy Horse 20 dollar bill would be cool.

Pay some respect to those people that were here ahead of us.

There are MANY historical examples of allegorical women on US money, such as Liberty and Justice. Money images should be traditional, not affirmative action.
