Harriet Tubman is the next face of the $20 bill; $5 and $10 bills will also change

arriet Tubman will replace President Andrew Jackson as the face of the $20 bill, and Jackson will be moved to the back of the bill alongside an image of the White House, Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew said Wednesday.

Alexander Hamilton, the nation’s first Treasury secretary, will remain on the front of the $10 bill, but the back of that bill, which currently bears an image of the Treasury building, will feature leaders of the suffrage movement.

The reverse of the $5 bill will be overhauled to include opera singer Marian Anderson, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr
Lew said the designs of all three bills are slated to be completed and unveiled by 2020, the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

BS to anyone condoning this.

This is less an honor to the people so honored, than a slap in the face to those long on them.

Oh, of course Lincoln won’t go. Perfect PC saint, “freeing the (black) slaves”. Never will commies let him go. He must always be sainted being connected to the favored group.

Don’t tell me that Tubman really had a major impact upon this country. Nonsense. Fred Douglass is more important, or Booker T., not that I’d think it was that huge an impact. Just more important.

This is nothing more than slapping whites and trying to make blacks feel better.

Further note: $ to doughnuts they’ll put some latino on currency before oriental. You watch. The more “downtrodden” the more to be honored.

How about an old guy with a mustache and top hat.

We could call it monopoly money.

I don’t actually like presidents or notable people on the money. The US is not an Empire with a god-king.

The treasury should remove all historic faces from the bills and coins. Instead go with these:

On bills:
Walking Liberty ($5.00), Seated Liberty ($10.00), Eagles ($20.00), Double Eagles ($50.00), Walking Justice($100), Seated Justice($500), USS Constitution - The sailing ship ($1000).

On coins, how about native animals?
Duck(Penny), Buffalo (Nickel), Turkey (Dime), Rattle Snake (Quarter), Grizzly Bear (50 cent piece), Big Horn Sheep ($1.00)

Abolish the the $1.00 bill

Just my thoughts

Maybe walking on the moon on one. Something for science, but yeah, I’d be ok with an overhaul.

“the more downtrodden, the more honored”

You’re right, but I think they’d go for a homosexual before Latino. Saving the $3 for the right one.

Tubman would take Black Lives Matter airheads and drill them so full of bullet holes they could no longer hold any adult beverage.

Obama’s picture really deserves to be on food stamps since he put so many people on them.

What is wrong with putting Michelle’s face on a $5 and maybe Obama’s on a $3?

Remember this one of the FIRST black President?

It would not bother me to see Alexander Hamilton gone from our currency but replace him with Miss Melanie Hamilton Wilkes (Olivia deHavilland, Ronald Reagan’s pal, who turns 100 somewhere around June of this year). Beats the hell out of naming some rabid babykiller!

Obama administration political pandering just before election time.

WHERE are the cost estimates for all this unnecessary design and re-tooling work plus enormous expenses I can't even think of at the moment???

Government tightening-of-the-belt time NEVER seems to come, does it?

Finance each surviving welfare state program (hopefully, ONLY with Reagan sawbucks! Regulate so that ANY defacement renders those bills absolutely valueless (This note is legal tender for all debts public and private unless defaced, in which case, it is valueless and NOT legal tender. Also: add the noble motto of the State of New Hampshire: Live Free or Die!
